Lake Zurich Region Amden-Weesen The little village of Amden overlooks the sparkling waters of the Walensee lake. Here, nature lovers can while away wonderful hours far from the stresses of every day life. In summer and fall, the mountainous landscape above Amden is a perfect hiker’s paradise; in winter, you can race down the slopes on your skis.
A real corker on the Lattenberg Lake Zurich wine attracts visitors from all over the world to this region. Its flavor, a blend of the finest grapes and freshest lake air, yields an inimitable aroma. A wine trail – guided by an app – brings the wine up close and personal to the visitors of this region.
En route, connoisseurs get to learn interesting facts about the traditions, production, and, of course, enjoyment, of Lake Zurich wine. The breathtaking view from the Lattenberg will make the hearts of wine connoisseurs beat faster and simultaneously de-light hiking enthusiasts. The circular route can be downloaded using the free ‘drallo app’, available on iTunes and through the Google Play store.
Schwyz Region History and Culture The Bundesbriefmuseum (Museum of the Swiss Charters of Confederation) is a must for those interested in the history and myth surrounding the Old Swiss Confederacy. The historical town of Schwyz has two further historical museums and invites visitors to take a stroll among its characteristic manor houses.
Action, Adrenaline, Nature Those in search of an adrenaline rush should try paragliding across the Swiss Alps from Fronalpstock. But even zooming across the valley on a zip line from Hoch-Ybrig at speeds of up to 120km (75 miles) per hour will make anyone’s heart race. Other ideas for action-packed excursions in the Schwyz Region include mountain biking on the Rigi or hiking up the Grossen Mythen.
Family Fun On the Sattel-Hochstuckli, even the little ones can have a fun hike – thanks to an enormous play area next to the top station. And the Swiss Holiday Park in Morschach, with its water park, go-kart circuit and even its own farm, will make children’s dreams come true.
Winterthur Region Center for Photography Visitors are captivated by these images that lie halfway between art and the documentation of everyday life. The center, situated on a former industrial site, also offers a comfortable bistro and a library.
Swiss Science Center Technorama Everyone will be able to find something to do at one of the 500 experiment stations here, be it a lever to pull, a crank to turn, or simply something to watch and marvel at. In the interactive ex-hibits on perception, magnetism and electricity, light and vision, getting hands-on is more than encouraged!
The Old Town of Winterthur A stroll and a shopping spree in the car-free old town. On the streets where the wealthiest citizens of the city once lived, we now find department stores, fashion boutiques and specialist retailers alongside charming cafes and restaurants that invite you inside to linger a little while.
Baden Region Old Town The old town of Baden is one of the most impressive in all of Switzerland. Strolling through its narrow medieval streets, city-explorers will feel like they have traveled back in time.
Culture The city offers many cultural highlights, not least the internation-ally renowned animation film festival ‘Fantoche’, a vibrant theater scene and the Baden Grand Casino. A particular highlight: the Langmatt Impressionist Museum, where an appreciation of art meets culinary delight when you round off your visit with a stylish picnic in the park.
Thermal Waters Baden is famous for having the most mineral-rich thermal waters in Switzerland. The spa quarters will invigorate your tired spirit and give you a refreshing break from everyday life. In the Atrium Hotel Blume and the Limmathof Baden Hotel & Spa, those seek-ing relaxation will find a comprehensive range of wellness treat-ments. You can also switch off for a moment on the ‘thermal bench’.
Zug RegionOld Town with Clock Tower Visiting the picturesque old town of Zug will inevitably involve a visit to historical buildings such as Zug’s landmark, the ‘Zytturm’ clock tower. A visit here can be rounded off with a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants on the shores of Lake Zurich.
Zugerberg Winter visitors can escape the fog by going up the Zugerberg and enjoying its marvelous snowscapes. But even in summer, the Zugerberg is worth a visit. Using public transport, you can reach the local recreation area in less than an hour from Zurich.
Höllgrotten Caves Those paying a visit to Zurich between April and October would be wise to explore the Höllgrotten caves. With its little lakes, stalagmites and stalactites, this subterranean magical kingdom is an ideal excursion for families.

The City of Zurich Zurich is that small but beautiful metropolis on the shores of the cerulean Lake Zurich. Situated in the center of Switzerland, Zurich offers big-city comforts without giving up its lush countryside. In the space of a short drive, nature lovers will find themselves at the heart of the famous Swiss Alps with their crystal-clear mountain lakes and spectacular views.
With over 100 galleries and more than 50 museums, Zurich also offers expert and amateur art connoisseurs an enormous range of exhibitions. Zurich Zoo is a must for animal lovers. Meanwhile, curious urban explorers can discover the contrast between the picturesque old town and the more modern parts of the city, which are in a state of constant development.
Zurich also has a multitude of gastronomic highlights and is a real shopping paradise for trend setters and the fashion-conscious.
zuerich.com
Uetliberg / FelseneggUetliberg is Zurich’s local car-free mountain. From its summit at 871m (2,858ft) above sea level, visitors can enjoy the stunning views of the city, Lake Zurich and the Alps beyond, in summer as in winter.
The S10 goes from Zurich Main Station to Uetliberg. For those of a more sporty disposition, the summit can be reached in the summer in one hour via a number of hiking trails. You’ll never be bored in nature here, thanks to a number of further signposted hikes in the region, a mountain-biking trail and the ‘Path of the Planets’.
The 1.5-hour hike along the ‘Path of the Planets’ goes up to the Felsenegg railway in Adliswil and offers a fascinating insight into the solar system.
When the snow cover is thick enough in the winter, Uetliberg is transformed into a sledging slope.
zuerich.com/uetliberg
Laufen Castle The 1,000-year-old cliff-top Laufen Castle sits proudly on the crags above the thundering waters of Europe's largest waterfall, the Rheinfall. Most visitors walk right through the inner courtyard of the castle to the ‘Känzeli’, an observation platform directly above the raging Rhinefalls. Here and in the glass panoramic elevator, you can get the best views of the impressive natural spectacle.
It is worth taking a closer look at the castle itself and discovering more about its millennium of history in the ‘Historama’. Mentioned for the first time in writing in 858, these old walls have been through a lot of thrilling times. The Rhinefalls can be reached in approximately an hour by train from Zurich, or 45 minutes by car.
zuerich.com/rhinefalls
Rapperswil-Jona The picturesque town of Rapperswil is characterized by its medieval castle, which rears up above Lake Zurich. Rapperswil is known as the town of roses thanks to the 20,000 roses that bloom between May and October in the Capuchin monastery’s rose garden and on the ‘Schanz’.
Even in medieval times, this little town with the castle was known to many travelers from the north because one branch of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela snakes along Lake Zurich.
Hundreds of years ago, pilgrims walked through the town before continuing their pilgrimage over the recently reconstructed, longest wooden footbridge in Switzerland towards Einsiedeln.
Rapperswil is also renowned for the Knies children’s zoo. Here, children can experience friendly elephants, inquisitive giraffes and curious sea-lions up close. And the wide range of museums invites visitors to stay a while, explore, and enjoy life in the town.

Titlis Titlis is one of the most popular winter sports and travel destinations in Central Switzerland. The summit is 3,239m (10,627ft) above sea level and blanketed by a glacier, making snow sports possible the whole year round.
Cable cars carry visitors from Engelberg to the Titlis summit. The world’s first revolving gondola, Titlis Rotair, transports high-flyers from the intermediate station at ‘Stand’ up to 3,020m (9,908ft) above sea level, just a short stretch beneath the summit. During the five-minute trip, the gondola revolves 360°, guaranteeing panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Thrill-seekers can also test their nerves on the Titlis Cliff Walk: the highest suspension bridge in Europe is 100m (328ft) long and 500m (1,640ft) above the ground.
A visit to the glacier grotto and a chairlift journey over crevasses in the glacier offers breathtaking views in winter as in summer.
