ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE – THE TECHNOLOGY FOR FUTUREThe most important general-purpose technology of our era is Artificial Intelligence and in particular, machine learning (ML). Artificial Intelligence (AI)- Interestingly is not a new term. It was first used by Alan Turing in 1950. But recently, we are seeing an acceleration because the computational power as well as available data is going upward with exponential growth. Human brain is a super computer which knows and holds immense data, but we are not able to explain how we do a lot of things – right from recognizing a face to making a smart move in the game of Chess. Prior to the introduction of ML, this inability to articulate our own knowledge meant that we could not automate many tasks.

We, humans learn from experience while computers follow instructions through programs. The question is, can computers learn from experience? The answer is yes; and for computers, experience is nothing but data. This is called machine learning.

In the sphere of business, AI is poised to have a transformational impact on the scale of existing technologies or is bound to take a disruptive role in the whole business process. Although many companies around the world have adapted Artificial Intelligence in their business processes, most big opportunities have not yet been tapped. The effects of AI will be more visible in the coming years, as manufacturing, retail, transportation, finance, healthcare, banking, education, and virtually every other industry transform their business models and core processes to take advantage of machine learning.

Digital shaping customer interactionBusiness leaders need to realize that competition is no longer defined by traditional industrial boundaries and digital technologies are blurring the boundaries. Enhancing the ease of doing businessDSP is the region’s first science focused community that caters to the pharmaceuticals, food and agriculture, diagnostics and analysis, as well as energy and environment sectors (among others). It is evolving as a hub for companies in the field of human science, plant science, material science, environmental science and energy science.

With nearly 90 per cent of pharmaceuticals in the UAE being imported, Dubai Science Park’s 360-degree approach to enhancing the ease of doing business aims to both attract key organisations from abroad looking to access business opportunities across the region as well as foster local enterprise growth. Ultimately, by developing the local market, DSP looks to create an environment that enables the emirate to reduce its dependency on imports.

The science park is designed specifically for the needs of businesses and professionals in the science sector. Its robust infrastructure combines office space, laboratories and warehousing facilities for businesses

to flourish and features a state-of-the-art, plug and play, Laboratory Complex, that meets the highest international environmental standards.

The initiative is a magnet to attract the best of talents to Dubai in an effort to make the fast-growing cosmopolitan city into an innovation and talent hub. Freelancers can pump in their skills in sectors such as technology, education and media, where creativity and innovation are in constant demand. There is an exponential rise in the demand for skilled professionals in technology, data analysis, designing and programming and several other streams in the education and media sector.

The dual licensing service applies to companies established in an Abu Dhabi Free Zone(s). The system does not apply to branches of foreign companies. The activities permitted are all commercial and marine services related activities governed by an Abu Dhabi Free Zone and Department of Economic Development regulations. Unlike foreign company branches, appointment of UAE national as a local service agent is not applicable since the Free Zone will endorse the occupant / investor.
