Abstract
Jahrhunderts.
nenstadt sollte ein Center of information and communication entstehen, welches wh-
Vortragsraum, Ver-
anstaltungsbhne, Pressezentrum, Shop- bzw.

DOCUMENTA OF POSSIBILITIES...However, we believe that we could try something new (Arnold Bode1964,documenta III). Or: However, we believe that we could try twice a day something new. But why we need something new? When we need something new? Now in Kassel, not only because of the dOCUMENTA competition, but also for the amazing oppurtunity to val-orize a place like Friedichsplatz. The urban complexity of the Kassels center made a huge open space like a urban desert. Is like to flatten all the opportunity that could come from to a real public space for a sane public life. For this we need something new, for showing the intrinsic properties. Theoretically, looking Kassel from a map, the Friedichsplatz have all the features to be the center of the public life: huge open space, trees, benches, dOCUMENTA exposition. But onestly the reality in this place is totally different and it can be perceive only going there. The first annotation is the fluxes on the Platz, quite nobody use the center to pass from part to part and only few people choose an empty space (because is not an open space) to chill out. The trees, that sup-pose to make a filter between the caotic. The trees, that are supposed to make a filter between the chaotic city life to leisure square, bearly fullfil their this initial function and do not create balance intended in order to achieve an urban space. What can we bring in such a place to function in a temporary way? The concept is to bring common elements and using the variation possibilities to create new perspectives for the plaza. The temporary use of the cranes and containers can achieve big variations of displacement according to the specific needs. We can create a choreography of these disposi-tions, where the day and night offer two different stages on which the documenta can perform. Through the costumalisation of some con-tainers we achieve different spatial combinations during the day in order to answer different needs for the functions. In the night the same elements are used to create nonconformist point of view in a square where regularity and geometric relations give a strict frame. So, lets make sculptures, walls, grids, bridges just to show that there are more POSSI-BILITIES.

URBAN ANALYSIS
THE MINIMUM ACTThe question of how do we build nowadays our architecture? is the inception of this project. The answer to it, is that forests, mountains, beaches and every kind of pre-existent nature is erased every time that the humani-ty needs a new house, school, museum, etc. So why cannot we do it in another way? is the unavoidable next question. Paying attention in the nature itself, we find diferent architectures, the spider-web. An architecture wich is made with the minimum damage, the minimum effort, the minimum material, and therefore: with a minimum act. When we apply this reflexion in kassel, the first problem we must face is that there is not such a pre-existent structure where to adapt this project, so the first step is make it. As we see in a forest, the main structure are the trees, which dont need of any other help to stand than themselves, because they are free-standing shapes, so this project needs a free-shape which follows the structural logic of a tree. The next step is to create diferent densities of branches, like the trees of a forest. Then, it will be useful to create areas where the shadow is more intense and so the people that pass under it will feel the necesity to go to more iluminated rooms, which will be the main rooms of the Documenta program. Then I define those passages to pass through, and also the main points of the program with their area, situated in the grid defined by the surrounding trees. These two parameters will define the size of the Documenta building and also the diferent densities it will have. Once the supporting elements are situated, the fabric, representing that spider-web, will create and connect rooms and passages, whith this soft appearence that fabric possesses, and so creating a new atmosphere similar to the one we find in the forest. In this manner, the project becomes a methaphor of another way to make architecture, an adaptative and minimal architecture.

LOOKING FOR IMPORTANT IDEAS TO RULE THE PROJECT I REALIZED THAT "EPHEMERAL" IS THE CLUE TO DE-VELOP THIS PAVILION. DOCUMENTA IS A TEMPORARY EXHIBITION DURING THE SUMMERTIME. ON THE ONE HAND, WE MUST CONSIDER THE IDEA OF AN INTERESTING ARCHITECTURE BUT ON THE OTHER HAND IT SHOULD BE BUILT IN A SUSTAINABLE WAY DEALING WITH THIS CONCEPT OF EVENTUALITY. THE LAST DOCUMENTA WAS DEVELOPED BY CONTAINERS. I BELIEVE THAT IT'S A VERY CONVENIENT SOLUTION FOR THE FUNCTIONALITY BUT WE MUSTNT FORGET THAT THIS KIND OF ARCHI-TECTURE MUST BE INTERESTING.BY VISITING KASSEL I REALIZED THAT THIS KIND OF ARCHITECTURE IS ALREADY HAPPENING IN AN UN-CONSCIOUS WAY AROUND THE FIELD OF THAT BEAUTIFUL CITY. THE PEO-PLE ARE TAKING WITH THEM: 1) AN UMBRELLA TO PROTECT THEMSELVES OF THE SUNLIGHT, 2) A BLANKET TO SIT AND FEEL COMFORTABLE AND 3) A BASKET WITH ALL THE STUFF TO SATISFY THEIR NECESSITIES.SO PICNIC IS THE POETIC IDEA OF THIS PAVILION MADE BY PRO-VIDING THESE THREE ELEMENTS IN ORDER TO SATISFY THE NECESSI-TIES OF THE PEOPLE THAT DECI-DE TO BE PART OF DOCUMENTA 13.

lOCATIONDocumenta center of information and comunication tries to give the enough information to the visitors thanks to the dynamic tools and open spaces. The location of the center is based in the idea of gen-erate an orientation point to situate the visitors in Kassel, so this place is perfect to generated a strong im-age of the center. Everybody who arrives to Documentas exhibition need a place to orientate them-selves in the city. For this reason, is necessary to think in the concept of the building like a city. This meeting point of documentas will work like a mini city offering a totally free circulation in the ground floor and a 1 floor of contemplation. Thus the visitor will receive the enough information in few minutes. DOCU-MENTA in few words.

Art exhibition, information, projection surface, 3D guestroom and art itself: the panels offer a multitude of op-portunities which ranges from the most usual ones to the very unexpected, such as proper enclosed spaces.
These completely different properties have been combined into the design process, always trying to achieve every result without never forgetting the condition of smooth transition between the parts.
In order to do this, several paramethrical rules have been developped and applied in a definition which allows us to control the whole geometry, from the more rough shape to the smallest detail, just moving few curves:
the right position and rotation affects immediatey every single panel.

Every panel is unique: it can be used as projection surface, have screens and speakers, carry pictures, spread every kind of information and be used to collect visitors impressions. Some will be decorated with perforations, as an embroidery. In this way artists can display their masterpieces and sell them to the public at the end of the Exhibition.

THE MUTANT CUBE:THE IDEA, BASED ON THE PIXELIZEDIMAGE FROM THE GAME SPACE INVADERS, CREATE AN IDEA OF USING A MODULAR SISTEM TO CREATE THE PROGRAM, STARTING WITH A CUBE 6X6X6M AND EXPLORE THE CUBE IN A WAY TO PLAY WITH THE PROGRAM IN SUCH AS SMALL SPACE.
THE CONCEPT OF THE CUBE: HYBRID CUBE, MUTATED, MULTI-FUNCTIONAL, WITH CHANGING AND MANIPULATION OF ITSELF. WITH A CONSTRUCTION SIMPLE OF 6X6X6M, CREATING 2 FLOORS, EACH ONE WITH 36 SQUARE METERS, WITH A SIMPLE STRUCTURE, APLYING MATERIALS PRE-MADE, IDEAL FOR LOW COST CONSTRUCTION, EASY TO MOUNT AND DISMOUNT TO RE-USE, LIGHT CUBE TO ALOW MOVING FROM PLACE TO PLACE, CHANGING ORDER.
1ST ORIENTATION: PRAGMATIC/CLASSIC, FOLLOWING THE FIRST GRID (BASED ON THE GARDEN, SIMILAR TO THE FRENCH CLASSIC GARDEN WITH STRICT GRID FROM THE 18 CENT.), MU-TATED TO AN ORGANIC SHAPE, ALLOWING TO MOVE THE CUBES, CREATING AN ORGANIC MOVEMENT, MANIPULATED BY THEMSELVES.
