COUNCILLOR REPORT FOR FEBRUARY 2018 Council is moving towards the budget process. The duration of the process is from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on Wednesday, February 7th to Saturday February 10th, 2018. The budget workshops will be live streamed. Council and administration is also working on the Strategic Plan developing priorities for the next four years. The Strategic Plan includes giving direction for municipal services and programs. Part of the new strategy for the RMWB is to hold more Council meetings in the rural communities. We held our first meeting in Fort McKay, as their area structure plan needed to be approved by Council. This is the hamlets first Area Structure Plan. The
Council meeting was very well attended with support from Conklin, Janvier and Anzac residents. The next direction is to have a Council meeting in Fort Chipewyan in the early spring to move toward passing their Area Structure Plan. The Area Structure Plans have already been approved for Gregoire Lake Estates, Anzac, Janvier and Conklin. The latest being Janvier’s in December of 2016. The purpose of an Area Structure Plan includes future land uses, and proposes a sequence of development for an area. Moving forward upcoming consultation in the rural communities will be the land use bylaw. The land use bylaw regulates the use, conservation and development of land and buildings within the municipality. The RMWB’s land use bylaw needs to be updated. There are other plans that will be coming forward to Council which include Social Sustainability. The purpose of this plan is to devise ways to maintain healthy communities. The funding for the plan will be provided by the Canadian Red Cross as it relates to the aftermath of the fire. We had our Toast of Champions (Citizen Recognition Program) this month. The RMWB honored 8 local citizens. We have recognized residents in Ward 4 in the past and will continue to do so in the future. The RMWB has advised that garbage pick up day for Anzac and Gregoire Lake Estates residents will remain as Friday, unless it is a statutory holiday. I have received an e-‐mail from Frank Creasey who is a Director with the Camp Yogi Society. They are planning to have their Annual General Meeting on February 7th at 7:00 pm, at the Anzac Recreation Centre. Please come out and support Anzac and Gregoire Lake Estates residents who want to be part of this board. Anzac Winterfest this year will include dog sled races, a wonderful addition to the event. There are many other events which include a magic show for the little ones. I will be running the crib tourney. For any good deeds or concerns please e-‐mail [email protected] or phone 780-‐799-‐6024.

dearly departed members resting at the St. Vincent Cemetery. This project will take approximately three to four years to complete as there are many steps to take to ensure information gathered is accurate.
I would like to ask all family members that are interested in
participating in the program to provide the following information as soon as possible;
• Identify unmarked grave site(s) with name & location • Provide a copy of death certificate
We will complete 20 head stones per year until the project is complete. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this project please call Wendy Tremblay at (780) 559-‐2235. I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the Conklin Metis Local #193 for your assistance in providing the funding for the very important project. THANK YOU. Your input is valuable, and will not go ahead without family permission and confirmation of information.
