ABOUT SHILLONG
Shillong, the ‘Scotland of the East’ is the capital of Meghalaya (Abode of the Clouds), situated at an average altitude of 4,908 feet (1,496 m) above sea level. The city is 125 km away from Guwahati airport and
100 km away from Guwahati city (Railway station). Shillong is well connected by road with Guwahati. Shillong is considered as the
‘Education Hub’ of the North Eastern Region and a popular tourist des-tination for its scenic beauty and natural wonders. Cherrapunji, which
is 55 km South to Shillong holds the world record for most rain in a calendar month, while the village of Mawsynram, near Cherrapunji,
holds the distinction of wettest place on earth. The temperature in this region during the month of March ranges between 10-25°C.
MAJOR ATTRACTIONS- Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures,
Catholic Cathedral Church, Elephant Falls, Krang Suri Falls, Dawki River, Ward’s Lake, Umium Lake, Golf Course, Laitlum, Lady Hydari
Park are some places to visit. The Shillong peak is highest in the State and is good for trekking.

North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH), is an
autonomous Institute under Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India lo-
cated at Mawdiangdiang, Shillong-18. The Institute is dedicated to the
promotion and development of AYUSH system of medicine and educa-
tion in the country in general and in particular in North East India. It
aims at producing quality human resource in the field of AYUSH in general
and Ayurveda & Homoeopathy in particular in the region. The institute
has already admitted four batches of students both in the courses of
Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) and Bachelor of Ho-
moeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) and students from all over the
country are undertaking their studies in this institute. The institute is also
providing OPD and IPD services in both Ayurveda and Homoeopathy in its
Hospital.
With the aim of facilitating updation of knowledge in the field of Ho-
moeopathic education amongst teaching faculty/physician/students, delv-
ing into the issues/challenges faced by the Homoeopathic practitioners in
delivering primary health care services, NEIAH is organizing a One day Na-
tional Seminar on the theme “Quality Homoeopathic Education for Ca-
tering the Primary Health Care” on Friday, the 20th March, 2020.
