01Cantine Franco was founded in Valdobbiadene in 1919 by Antonio, who set out right from the start to make a quality product. With his son Nino, who carried on the tradi-tion, the winery grew, consolidated and expanded.
But it was Primo, first with his father Nino and later alone, who modernised the winery. From the moment he entered the winery, after earning his diploma at the Conegliano Veneto school of enology, Primo focused his work on a precise quality model he had got to know during his travels and study. At the beginning of the 90s, convinced that you need to control production right from the origins to obtain a good wine, Primo took over the running of a vineyard where he experimented with new planting techniques and the use of old clones. Meanwhile he continued his close collaboration with local producers, to develop his idea of promoting this grape.
Primo is helped by his wife Annalisa, who devotes almost all her time to Villa Barberina, and by his daughter Silvia in production, strategy and sales.

The Cavalleri family has owned land in Erbusco already in 1450, as evidenced by a deed preserved in the family archive. In the same archive is stored a deed of purchase of the vineyard Rampaneto in 1842. This act shows a structure suitable for a production winery already important at the time, although until 1967, the year of recognition of Franciacorta DOC, white wines and red wines produced were sold in bulk.
From the 1968 are the first bottles of wine labeled and in the same year the company acquired its present name ‘ Gian Paolo e Giovanni Cavalleri’.
In the 1980 Maria and Giulia, daughters of Giovanni, joined the company and lately also grandchildren Francesco and Diletta, with the cooperation of the sales manager Aldo Pagnoini and the winemaker Giampaolo Turra, developed with care and commitment the original plan: become a reference company , able to be recognized between the others wines for its own peculiar style.
Always supporters of the potential of the Blanc des Blancs, we produce our Franciacorta exclusively from Chardonnay grapes from our vineyards, continuing to prefer to the vol-umes the research of quality and the higher expression of our cru.

Founded in 1834 by a Champagne Family passionate by the wines of its region, the Boizel House was estabilished in Epernay, hearth of the Champagne Region, Unesco Heritage since 2015.
Thanks to the detailed knowledge of the champagne terroir developed by each genera-tion, the House had access to grapes coming from the best crus of the region, which is essential in order to create great Champagnes. From the vineyards to the cellars, deci-sions are made to respect the natural quality of the wine.
Throughout its history, the finesse and the elegance defining the Boizel style have been appreciated by discerning connoiseurs in France and abroad.
Since 2015 Feudi di San Gregorio is the exclusive importer for Italy.

Distinction and elegance, this is the Pol Roger style. Founded in 1849, in its 160 years of history, Pol Roger has carved out one of the most flattering reputations in the small circle of the main Champagne brands. Still owned by descendants of the founder, PR cellars extend for 7 km in the chalk under street level, where a temperature of 9° C is stable all year round. Not surprisingly than, that sir Winston Churchill and the British royal family have made of Pol Roger their favorite champagne.Saverio Notari

Lodovico Antinori discovered the property which would become Tenuta di Biserno back in 1995, whilst researching land suitable for extending Ornellaia. What he saw excited him but he recognised that the geology and geography were markedly different from those of Ornellaia, much hillier and stonier.
Tenuta di Biserno is a 45 hectares estate, situated in Alta Maremma, coastal, western Tuscany, nestling amongst the hills of Bibbona. It borders the historic village of Bolgheri and enjoys beautiful views towards the Tyrrhenian Sea – a special place indeed.

The history of the Fattoria di Fiorano starts with Alberico Boncompagni Ludovisi, the Prince of Venosa, who inherited lands along with Appian Way in 1946, at the footsteps of Rome. He decided to plant four grapes: Merlot, Cabernet, Semillon and Malvasia di Candia, and to cultivate them according to principles that govern modern organic agri-culture, anticipating the future of farming.
As time went by, the Prince of Venosa started to produce one red wine and two white wines, unique and striking and reserved for the few coinnosseurs who were able to taste the fruits of his labor and his production techniques as an avantgarde, forward-thinking winemaker.
The story of Fiorano became a legend, one of a man who sold few bottles, to a select group of experts and aficionados. He was stubborn and decided to protect the rela-tionship he had with his grapes, so much so that he uprooted most of his vines when he retired from winemaking.
From the royal legend of the Prince of Venosa, eight vines of the historical vineyard on the land of Fiorano have remained, four of Cabernet and four of Merlot.
From the precious remnants of their grandfather’s vineyard, the three granddaughters Allegra, Albiera and Alessia decided to revive the Fattoria. A continuity with the intent to uphold the values of the family, and with a way to breathe life into the Fattoria di Fiorano.

The Guado al Tasso estate is located in the small but prestigious Bolgheri DOC, on the coast of upper Maremma, about one hundred kilometers southwest from Florence. This appellation has a relatively recent history, DOC Bolgheri was approved in 1995 and since then it has become an internationally recognized reference point for the Italian and in-ternational winemaking arena. The estate covers an area of over 1000 hectares (2500 acres); 320 (790 acres) of which are planted with vines. The remainder is richly cov-ered with fields of wheat, sunflowers and olive groves, set in a beautiful plain encircled by rolling hillsides known as the “Bolgheri Amphitheatre” due to its particular shape. The vineyards are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Vermentino. The nearby sea provides a mild climate with constant breezes that mitigate summer heat and alleviate harsh winter weather, maintaining a clear sky and a high level of sunlight exposure.

Passion, courage and trust in the enormous quality potential that Puglia, and especially the areas of Castel del Monte and Salento were able to express, inspired the Antinoris to invest in the region. The idea that, from the start, characterized Tormaresca’s production philosophy was to produce great wines from autochtonous varietals.
“The Tormaresca project began with the dream, now a reality, to discover and enhance the precious native varietals of Puglia, leading the wine renaissance of the region.
The values at the foundation of this project are the same transmitted for 26 generations by the Antinori Family: strong connection with the region, respect of apulian history and traditions maintaining always an innovative approach.”

Davide Sada’s winegrowing project began in the year 2000 in Casale Marittimo, in an area 300 metres above sea level, where its hilltops offer impressive sea views.
Following a detailed geological survey of the area including Casale Marittimo and Bol-gheri, the soil was identified as having the qualities to produce high quality grapes.
The consistency of the land, along with its particular tempered microclimate allows a gentle and complete ripening of the grapes. The sea breeze, that blows day and night and the abundance of sun light , favors a particular dry climate.
In the most prestigious Bolgheri DOC area, a hillside hectare of Head Trained Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon vines, surrounded by century old olive groves, has been planted.
On the hills of Casale Marittimo, the soil components are clay and sandstone, where eight hectares of Vermentino have been planted.

Caiarossa is just a few steps away from the small medieval village of Riparbella, on the western slope of a hill facing the sea and surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation. Since 2004 the property has been owned by Eric Albada Jelgersma, Dutch gentleman, who devotes much of his activities to the world of wine and also owns Château Giscours and Château du Tertre in France, two Grand Cru classé in Margaux, Bordeaux. His desire to create a place where the production of high quality wines is combined with the respect for the environment came true running the 30 hectares of vineyard following biodynamic agriculture rules. The geo-biological architecture and oriental philosophy of Feng Shui inspired the project for the cellar. Thanks to the natural slope of the land, the facility has been developed on 4 levels to take advantages from gravity force and avoiding any me-chanical damage to the grapes. After a careful manual selection and a soft pressing, the must flow, without the use of pumps, into vats of concrete or wood to macerate and to ferment for about one month. The wine proceeds to malolactic fermentation in the floor dedicated to concrete tanks or in the barrel cellar. To have the best expression of terroir, both fermentations start spontaneously thanks to indigenous yeasts.

Carnasciale is situated in the Valdarno di Sopra in Tuscany, between Arezzo and Flor- ence. Founded by Wolf Rogosky, the estate is run today by Moritz and Bettina Rogosky, together with the enologists Marco Maffei and Peter Schilling. The Caberlot grape was identified in the late 60s in an abandoned vineyard near Padua by agronomist Dr. Remigio Bordini. With the organoleptic characteristics of Cabernet Franc and an ampelographic profile close to Merlot we assume that the loose-cluster Caberlot is a natural crossing of the two varieties. The ‘Carnasciale’ vineyard was planted in 1986 and four plots have been planted since for a total of 4,5ha in production, exclusively with Caberlot.
We work the vineyards with total respect for the soil and plants. Pruning, budding and leaf-management are done by hand and no chemical fertilizers or pesticides are used. Severe selection at harvest follows the motto ‘what would not go into your mouth will not go into the wine’, with yields at 25hl per hectare. In the cantina we believe in minimally invasive enology, allowing the fruit, the vintage and the characteristics of each vineyard to play the leading roles.
We seek elegance, typicity and tension in our wines, and sulfites are kept to a strict min-imum. After fermentation the wines are racked in barriques from Burgundy, 60% new, and gently aged for 22 months. We select the most complex and aromatic wines for Il Ca- berlot, bottled in magnum and matured a further 16 months prior to release.

In 2001, Wolfgang Reitzle purchased the “Villa Bertolli” from the Bertolli family. Together with his wife Nina Ruge the estate was renamed to “Villa Santo Stefano” to closely as-sociate it with the nearby picturesque church of the 9th century of that name. The es-tate is situated among the magnificent landscape of the Lucca hills and produces since more than 10 years wine. Today, the estate’s annual production, from 11 hectares under cultivation, is arround 30 000 bottles of red, rosè and white wine, as well as 2500 liters of top quality olive oil. The wine cellar was expanded in 2014, the estate’s production is supported by innovative technologies and methods.

The company was founded in the late 60s, when Oliviero bought a small country house in Casale Marittimo, a tiny village on the Tuscan coast. This property, without running water and electricity, was initially used only during summer holidays and for weekend geta-ways. The property gradually expanded, year after year, up to the 160 hectares it is today. In the late 90s, inspired by dear friend Angelo Gaja and with the help of our winemaker Attilio Pagli, an amphitheater like vineyard with a breathtaking view over Tyrrhenian Sea was made.
Located just few kilometres north of Bolgheri, c.a. 350 meters above sea level, the 12 hectare large Monteromboli vineyard, a home to Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Teroldego, is unique with its brick-red iron rich soil and terraced plantings.
Today the winery is managed by Oliviero’s son Rocco. He has completely revolutionised the wines, enhancing the strong points of the vineyard and the territory, making products that none had yet made in the area - wines that are a perfect reflection of the terroir, showing the characteristics of the varietals and surprise with a crisp freshness, and fas-cinating potential.

The Domaine du Comte de Thun is located on the plateau Cordais, which is the northern most part of Gaillac and is seen as the best terroir in the region. Our vineyards are located in the middle of the plateau, around 200-300 m higher than the rest of the region. The climate is correspondingly cooler here and the harvest begins up to 15 days later than in other subregions of Gaillac. The majority of our vineyards also faced south and the soil is extremely meagre and calcareous. Our grape varieties thrive very well in this terroir and express it very individually and unmistakably in the wines. Our wines, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Franc and as well Pinot Noir are clearly differentiated from other wines in this region, but nevertheless, they are perfect ambassadors for Gaillac, we would even say, for the whole wine landscape of south-west France.

We have seen many, many vineyards. But this place - we came to love it before it even belonged to us. Love at first sight for two friends Jean Natoli and Peter Riegel.
Jean, an internationally recognized French oenologist, assisting more than 300 wineries in the south of France and Peter, for more than 30 years importing and distributing or-ganic wines from all over the world, together, with different perspectives, each with years of experience in wine, they decided to start their own wine story. Now, in making wine themselves, they have the excitement of defining their unique style from the interaction of the site’s terroir and the unpredictability of nature. Every day brings a new lesson, a new challenge a new joy.
After having produced some vintages, they realize which terroir belongs to them.
Internationally recognized from the connaisseurs and from wine journalist, we are more than proud to present our wines in this fantastic area from Cason Hirschprunn.

We are a small wine producing company based in the Vaucluse region in South East France. The label is called LQLC from the name of the area where the vines are grown: Les Quelles La Coste. All 4 wines have the denomination IGP Vaucluse. The vines are planted at low density: 4000 per HA on parcels of land of clayey silt terroir, site of an ancient lake, characterized by deep soil where the Pinot Noir can develop without suffering from the high summer temperatures. It gives a rich, but fresh fruity taste of cherry, long lasting flavours, soft and smooth tannins.
The grapes are harvested by hand in order to produce the highest quality possible.

Azienda Agricola Pietro Caciorgna is located in the heart of Tuscany. And, here the youngest son Paolo Caciorgna – a professional oenologist with a great passion for the new challenges, when in 2001 got the opportunity to make a wine for his family, the Mac-chie project was started. One single small vineyard, 2,3 hectars, one single variety: San-giovese, four different clones.
First vintage was 2004 .
In 2006, Paolo Caciorgna gave birth to a small wine project on Mt Etna, producing its first N*anticchia. Originally from Tuscany, Paolo was captured by the uniqueness of the wine that these lands produce and by the beauty of those vineyards, perfectly cultivated and preserved by the love and wise work of the locals. After visiting many Contrada of the north side, he was able to buy some small, almost centenarian vineyards of Nerello Mascalese.
From the vineyards of Contrada Marchesa, Santo Spirito and Bocca d’Orzo, which in ac-cordance to the best agronomic practices are predominantly grown with the alberello method, the Pietro Ciaciorgna Company produces, in addition to N*anticchia, also Ciaurìa and Guardoilvento, three DOC Etna reds vini ed in the estate’s own cellar in Rovittello.
The philosophy to adopt in the cellar to communicate the finesse and nobility of his “Ter-roirs” is very clear: The time to take time is in the beginning - at start - to lay out an impec-cable design so it won’t be jostled or skimped later on. (Edward Hopper)

Castello di Potentino’s wines are representative of the delicate relationship between na-ture and the human, earth and the climate; a symbiosis based on observation and re-spect, sensibility and discipline. Due to our unique micro-climate and mixed volcanic soil we are able to grow 3 of the most site sensitive varieties together in one small vineyard – Pinot Noir, Sangiovese and Alicante.

The Podere Salicutti estate is situated in the south-eastern part of the municipality of Montalcino, on route SP 55 to Castelnuovo dell’Abate/S. Antimo Abbey, approximately one and a half hours drive from Florence. The estate comprises eleven hectares of land; of these four hectares of vineyards (Piaggione, Teatro and Sorgente), one hectare of olive grove, and about three hectares of forest.
The heart of the estate is the restored original farm house in which the wine cellar with its wooden barrels is located. A new building mostly dedicated to the estate’s business activities was added in 1999. It houses the fermenting cellar, a storage space and the office. A new barrel aging cellar is currently being build. The Eichbauer family (owners of renowned Restaurant Tantris in Munich) and its previous owner, Francesco Leanza, co-manage Podere Salicutti and personally supervise all matters concerning the wine-making and the wine cellar as well as administration and sales.
Francesco Leanza acquired Podere Salicutti in 1990 with the intention to make wine. He started out by enlarging and modernizing parts of an old olive grove before taking the decisive step in 1994: planting vines on three plots. As the first Montalcino winemaker, Francesco Leanza decided to do without chemical fertilizers and pesticides making Po-dere Salicutti the first certified organic vineyard in the Montalcino region.

A seven hundred acre estate in the heart of Tuscany, Il Borro lies in the basin of the Upper Valdarno, a large natural floodplain carved by the passage of the Arno river and bordered by the Pratomagno ridge, the Apennine mountains and the hills of Chianti.
As soon as they purchased the estate in 1993, Ferragamo began an extensive restoration project to return Il Borro to its former glory and preserve and improve the property for future generations. Today Il Borro is turned into a shiny pearl in the heart of Tuscany, a state-of-the-art winery which is entirely organic and sustainable from 2015.
The first step was in 1995 with the start of the viticulture activity. The unique climate and terroir, mild winters and optimal exposure of the vineyards results in the creation of fine quality wines. It is no coincidence that this area has been famous for its wine and oil since ancient times. Conversion to biodynamic cultivation of the vineyards got underway in 2015.
The production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, begun in 1996, also begins with handharvesting. A biodynamic approach is also used for crushing and pressing to enhance the sensory qualities of the oil. Running an organic business implies a certain way of living, observing and respecting the land.

Petrolo Estate was part of the old medieval fiefdom of “Galatrona”, the old tower of which still remains on top of Roman foundations. The winery was bought by the Bazzocchi family in the 40s and since the end of the 80s the current owner Lucia Sanjust Bazzocchi with the help of her son Luca Sanjust, has changed the production aims and methods to concentrate exclusively on results of the highest quality. Petrolo is placed in Val d’ Arno di Sopra on the south-east side of the Chianti mountains bordering Chianti Classico. Val d’Arno di Sopra is a historical area recognized and delimited in 1716 by the Grand Duke of Tuscany Cosimo III de’ Medici as a particularly valuable land for wine and olive oil.

Lazio? Even oenophiles and gourmets don’t think of this Italian region straightaway when it comes to high-quality wines, olive oil or fine dining. As such, this traditional, Mediterra-nean cultural landscape combines all the advantages it needs for the cultivation of wine and olives or for the production of Italian specialities.
Our estate Villa Caviciana is located in the north of the traditional farming area on the border with Tuscany. On Lake Bolsena we cultivate vineyards, olive groves and the sur-rounding forests, in which our Mangalica woolly pigs live, as well as pastures, where our Racka sheep are at home.

Tenuta delle Terre Nere is the fruit of over 30 years of passion and work in the world of fine wine.
And an extraordinary location, as well - this “island within an island” that is the Etna - that we chose. And that, we sometimes believe, actually chose us. A place where nature is prodigal but also severe. And here we try with all our heart to express as purely as pos-sible the refined and multifaceted microcosm of this ancient volcanic land. With respect, care and hard farm work, always in organic balance.
The estate’s philosophy is simple. Given an extreme climate, in order to obtain the best and most consistent ripening, our attention must focus on vineyard management. The finest workmanship in all aspects of viticulture is the first thing that sets us apart. And what enables us, bringing home exceptionally fine grapes, not to be invasive in our cellar work. A work best described as aimed above all at expressing the character of our varie-ties in their specific terroir.
A great team, a delicate hand and a heightened sensibility, as well. And our ideals, that drive us to give the best of ourselves in quest, not of perfection, but of the ideal bond between what nature gives us and that which our sensitivity, experience and imagination suggests.
All this sets us apart.

Founded in 1980 in Vittoria in the south east of Sicily by Giusto Occhipinti and Giambat-tista Cilia, they started with just 3 hectares of land and became the youngest winemakers in Italy. Today, Cos covers 34 hectares planted with Local varieties such as Nero d’Avola, Frappato, Grecanico and Inzolia. Biodynamic farming is practiced to help them find and maintain a harmonious balance with nature and craft wines that are as representative as possible of their time and place. Since 2000 Cos have been using amphorae in the win-emaking of their ‘Pithos’ wines and now have 150 amphoras. The use of clay allows the wine to breathe as it would in wooden barrels but without the contribution of additional aromas or flavours allowing the territory of origin in the wines to shine through. The other wines are made using very traditional vinification, long fermentations and maceration in concrete tanks and ageing in large Botti. The next goal is to demonstrate that a good wine from Vittoria can age very long.

The Pio Cesare winery was founded in 1881, when Pio Cesare, a successful entrepreneur, was inspired to produce a small and select quantity of wines from the Barolo and Bar-baresco hills for himself, his family, friends, and customers. Over the years, Pio Cesare built up a real business. His son, Giuseppe Pio, the second generation, found himself with a thriving winery at the turn of the century. He carried on his father’s business, ex-panding it more and more with proper investments in the cellar and in the trade, making Pio Cesare a benchmark brand for the wines of the region. In 1940, Giuseppe Pio’s only child, Rosy, married Giuseppe Boffa, a young and well-known engineer from Alba, who managed a large company in Milan at the time. When Italy began to struggle during the Second World War, Giuseppe Boffa decided to dedicate himself to the Pio Cesare winery with serious passion. Rosy and Giuseppe Boffa named their youngest son Pio, referring to his great-grandfather’s surname. Pio, now representing the fourth generation, leads and directs the company today.
His sister’s son, Cesare, has been active since 2000 as the fifth generation and Federica Rosy, Pio’s daughter, has just joined Pio Cesare, representing the future of the Family. Today, we travel extensively to more than 50 countries around the world, echoing what Pio Cesare himself did at the beginning of our history—promulgating our name and rep-utation to restaurants, hotels, wine shops, and wine lovers worldwide.

Tenute Cisa Asinari dei Marchesi di Grésy produce fine wines coming from four different estates, two located in Langhe - Martinenga and Monte Aribaldo - and two in Monferrato - La Serra and Monte Colombo.
Martinenga is the only monopole in the Barbaresco DOCG, property of the family since 1797, is widely considered one of, if not the best, vineyard in the area. Here the Nebbiolo does not exceed in strenght, but excels in class and elegance, hence Martinenga Bar-barescos are uniques and immediately recognizable.
Our aim is to bring the sublime class of our terroir straight into the bottle. We therefore concentrate most of our efforts into taking the best care of our vineyards - in a biological way - and let the quality of our estates speak for itself, rather than trying to “build” wines in the cellar.

Tenimenti Rossi Cairo is the brand that puts together La Raia and Tenuta Cucco, two wine – growing farms owened by the Rossi Cairo family and run by Piero Rossi Cairo. The aim of both estates is pursuing quality excellence and territory enhancement following organic farming. At Tenuta Cucco we produce the wines of the most ancient tradition.
The vineyards are situated at the roots of the renowd XIV century castle that dominates the whole Langhe area, in Serralunga d’Alba, UNESCO world heritage site. 13 hectars farmed as Nebbiolo for Barolo, Dolcetto d’Alba, Langhe Nebbiolo, Langhe Chardonnay and Barbera d’Alba. From 15 to 50 old vines. Lower quantity yeld for high quality product. Perfect microclimate thanks to the altitude of the vines, (240 -420 m.a.s.l.) Grapes are abundant in tannins and polyphenols, due to limestone and tuff that are highly concen-trated, wich at this altitude remain on the surface of the soil. The organic farming method will strenghthen even more the capacity of producing wines that merge body and ele-gance.
Tenuta Cucco Barolo collection: Barolo DOCG Cerrati Vigna Cucco Riserva from the highest area of the Cerrati Cru. Barolo DOCG Cerrati one of the most suited crus of Serralunga , only commercialized by our farm. Barolo DOCG del Comune di Serralunga grapes derive from the Vughera area, Cru of Serralunga. Our vineyards were once the land of the ancient and illustrious count Alberti family, which included one of the prince bishop of Trento, and came into possession of my family over a century ago. The land was part of the dowry of countess Alberti when she married Geza Dell’Adami de Tarczal, admiral of the royal austrohungarian fleet, and our direct ancestor. Our wine production started to flourish in the golden years of the austro-hungarian em-pire, when “marzemino” was always served at the imperial court. The vallagarina, region in northern Italy, has been renowned for centuries for its fine quality and variety of distin-guished grapes. The distinctive taste of wines produced here, has become a favorite selec-tion of true connoisseurs everywhere. The soil rich in basalt, the ideal climate and location (nestled between the Mt. Baldo and Mt. Bondone ranges) provide the perfect habitat for our fine grapes. Then we add the patience, care, and expertise of our growers and wine makers to produce wines of high excellence. Geographically, the vineyards are located at the mid-height of the mountains on the right side of the Adige river. The production coming only from grapes of our vineyards, is limited but highly selective, and our goal is to produce only genuine, classical wines which we achieve by employing old and well proved wine making procedures.

Excellence in wine production with a feminine touch that went against the grain.
Sansonina is a company with a 13-hectare vineyard that lies in the southern moraine of Lake Garda, near Sirmione. A place of delightful landscapes renowned for its wine-making tradition in the production of Lugana.
In this land of white wines, Carla Prospero with her deep knowledge of the territory and its potential in this part of Lake Garda, took on a new challenge in 1997, with her daughter Nadia, to painstakingly revive an ancient Merlot grape variety, launching the production of a red wine in the land of whites: the Sansonina.
The challenge began with a trial vinification of the grapes of the ancient vine. The result was excellent and prompted Carla, backed by her husband, to go ahead with the idea of a red wine from Merlot grapes, experimenting for the first time with an international variety, as opposed to the natives vines the Zenato had always put their faith in.
2008, however, is the first vintage of Lugana Sansonina. In 2016 Evaluna, Garda DOC Ca-bernet, vintage 2014, and Sansonina Vigna del Moraro Verde, Lugana DOC spontaneous fermentation, vintage 2014, have made their entry into the market.

Vistorta is a historical village situated in the region of Friuli, in the northeastern part of Italy. The estate has been in the ownership of the Brandolini family since 1780. The cur-rent estate, which includes a farm and winery, was created by Guido Brandolini with a long term vision to modernity.
In 1985, Brandino Brandolini, inspired by Bordeaux standards, introduced a winemaking revolution to Vistorta by implementing a project with the aim to produce a great age worthy red wine: Merlot Vistorta. The range of production includes both red and white varietal wines, typical to the Friulian tradition with the classic Conte Brandolini label.
In 2005, the Vistorta project converted to organic farming. The entire farm, which counts some 220 hectares, was totally converted to organic farming and certified as such starting from vintage 2009. On the farm soils, Vistorta grows a variety of crops like corn and wheat that are grounded into flour in collaboration with a local mill, and then sold at our own market.
The soil composition of the 40 hectares of vineyard is mainly planted to clay-limestone and sand-gravel, excellent for producing fresh white wines such as Friulano and Pinot Grigio, and in the reds Refosco and Cabernet Franc. The old vines of Merlot are ded-icated to the production of Vistorta Merlot that we have been ageing carefully in the cellar for more than 20 years, collecting wonderful vintages, from 1989 to today.

Aquila del Torre and the village of Savorgnano del Torre are synonymous with viticulture on the North-Eastern hills of Friuli. Aquila del Torre project started back in 1996 when the old vines, planted in the 1960’s, were recovered. Now the vineyard surface is 18 hec-tares and the vines are cultivated following the genuine techniques of certified organic agriculture and the teachings of biodynamic farming. The vineyards nestled in the wood-lands and layed on sun trapping steep terraces are the result of the passion of Claudio and Michele Ciani for extreme viticulture on the hills in Friuli. The wines come exclusively from handpicked grapes grown inside the estate.

Calalta is a small winery located on the hills at the foot of Monte Grappa at an altitude of 150-200 metres. The winery is sited in a 16 hectars property (the vineyard consists of 5 hectars) where woods, olive trees, fruit trees and a pond promote a wide biodiversity with an advantageous microclimate. We work mostly by hand, under organic manage-ment. Our wine reflects our terroir and the peculiarity of each vintage: the grapes fer-ment with indigenous yeasts and we avoid clarification, filtration or additives except a small amount of suplhites before bottling, if necessary. The total production is 15.000 bottles a year.

Born in 1996 in Controguerra and Sant’Omero, one of the best areas of production of the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC in the region, the Valori winery today consists of 26 hec-tares of vineyards, for a total production of 150,000 bottles per year. Fancy of the simple countryside life, Luigi Valori challenged himself with native grapes winemaking, adding lastly the Merlot. His meticulous attention to sustainable winemaking techniques natu-rally brought about the decision to convert progressively all the production to organic farming. Valori’s selection is today made of six labels: four fresh and ready to drink and two reserves aged in French oaks.

Villa Papiano and the village of Modigliana are synonymous with viticulture in the Ap-ennine hills: high altitudes, less fertile soil and vineyards planted adjacent to forested areas - these are the severe but yet ideal characteristics which best describe our winery.
Our Villa Papiano Winery project started back in 2001 when we rebuilt the terraces of the old vines planted in the 1960’s to ensure the continuing evolution of our concept of wine as a traditional expression of this environment: wines which speak of flowers and undergrowth, subtle, vertical, with a slight salinity, wines which age well.
The vineyards are located on the edge of the south facing slope of Mount Chioda be-tween 450 and 539 m above sea level, facing the Ibola stream which marks the begin-ning of the less developed and closed valley of Modigliana. We cultivate Sangiovese and Albana grapes. In some of our older vineyards we grow Sangiovese grapes together with other ancient grape varieties such as Centesimino, Negretto and Balsamina. The vines are grown using the alberello and also the low espalier method to take maximum advan-tage of the heat from the ground.
We strongly believe in organic and sustainable agricultural methods, working in together with Mother Nature: we feed our plants only with light, love, compost and ploughing between the vine rows seasonally, also known as ‘green manure’.

Capannelle, located in the heart of Gaiole in Chianti hillsides, was born in 1975. The winery has an altitude of 400 meters and 16 hectares of vineyards. The production is around 80,000 bottles with six wines: two IGT, Solare made from the blend of Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera, the famous 50&50 born in 1988 with Sangiovese and Merlot , the DOCG Chianti Classico, which belongs a Chianti Classico Riserva and a Gran Selezione, a Chardonnay and a Rosato. Capannelle produces also a fine Extra Virgin Olive oil and a Grappa. The pride of the cellar is the Caveau, realized in steel with temperature and humidity controlled system where the more demanding clients can keep their precious bottles. This is a voyage of passion for a place, its vineyards, its beautiful rusticity, its people and its long intriguing history.
Austrian Entrepeneur Karl Egger and his family have been visitors to Tuscany for dec-ades. They fell in love with a small corner, just outside Radda in Chianti near Siena.
The property, which covers an area of approximately 90 hectars is a composition of wooded hills, small rivers and fertile plains. Nestled in between are ca. 20 ha of mainly Sangiovese vineyards. The property also includes more than 5 hectars of olive trees. Some of those are older than 60 years.
A stunning old hamlet with a chapel has been renovated, and the brand new and modern cellar will be completed soon. Our logo derives from an old Crest found in the hamlet during the building work.
The winery Tenuta di Carleone was born in 2012. Sean O’Callaghan, to his friends “Il Guercio” (one eyed rascal!) , was asked to join, to work together to build a small artisinal winery making classically defined Sangiovese with a twist. Sean’s twist..
Organic and biodynamic principles are used in the vineyard. Nothing is added to the wines, no yeast, no additives. Meaning our goal is to create honest and loveable wines.

Nittardi is a boutique winery situated in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, with vineyards also in Maremma.
The Nittardi Estate, on the boundary between the provinces of Siena and Florence, was originally a defensive tower known as early as 1183 by the name of “Nectar Dei” (The Nectar of the God). In the 16th century, the vast property belonged to the Renaissance artist Michelangelo Buonarroti.
In 1981, it was taken over by the Frankfurt art gallerist Peter Femfert and his wife Stefania Canali, a historian from Venice. They restored Nittardi step-by-step and with love and care. The vineyards were replanted and, in 1992, the ancient vat room was replaced by a modern cellar. Another splendid property was purchased in the Maremma, close to the coast in southern Tuscany, in 1999. This is where Ad Astra and Nectar Dei, the Super Tuscans of Nittardi and BEN a pure Vermentino are produced. Since 2013 Léon, Peter and Stefanias son, overseas the winemaking and marketing of Nittardi. Also because of his sustainable vision today all vineyards are certified organic.

The Podernuovo estate was bought in 2004 by Paolo and Giovanni Bulgari and is located in the Southern tip of Tuscany, positioned within a triangle between Umbria and Lazio. The 54 acres of vineyard at Palazzone are part of the municipality of San Casciano dei Bagni, an ancient thermal retreat. The previously abandoned vineyard was completely replanted in 2007 and its South-East exposure imparts the wines its structure and ele-gance. The variegated soil goes from clayey and chalky, to sandy and pebbly, an ideal environment, combined with a mild climate: warm summers and relatively cold winters and moderate rainfall. The altitude of the vineyard is of 340 to 380 meters above sea level capitalizing on its natural slight slopes to avoid water stagnation. The vineyard is a personal project and investment of Paolo and Giovanni Bulgari. They already own other estates in and around Tuscany and have always been passionate about nature in general and wine in particular. The company has been established with a long term vision in order to improve the full potential of the terroir to produce extraordinary wines. Employees and management are empowered in order to capitalize on each individual talent and commit-ment with a strong culture of respect for nature and the environment.

From all the Germans working in Tuscany, Klaus Johann Reimitz is perhaps the person who knows Chianti better than anybody else. He has for decades been living right in the heart of Chianti Classico, where the Sangiovese grape has been his passion for almost forty years now.
Creating his idea of what a Sangiovese should be like, he eventually, as of 2010, resolved to devote his attentions to the small vineyard „Boronzky” covering an area of little more than one hectare that had been planted on the Fattoria di Poggio al Sole estate of swiss owner Johnnes Davaz in 1992.
The vines for the single-variety Reimitz Sangiovese and, since 2016, the Reimitz San-giovese bianco, face southeast, 400 meters above sea level, flourishing on “Galestro”, the famous Tuscan ground that consists of limestone and shale. From his first vintage 2011 on, the Sangiovese virtuoso set about investing all the experience he had acquired into enticing previously undiscovered notes from this old Tuscan vine: Klaus Johann Reimitz gives a new dimension to Sangiovese, which in his hands is neither rustic and basic, nor styled for an international clientele. Instead it has retained its untamed character, while at the same time being unusually elegant and refined.

Since 2008, Monteverro has been producing quality wines in limited quantities from its 35 ha of vineyards.
A true philosophy of respect of the terroir and a precise block selection drives the farming and winemaking. This translates into Block selection, natural fermentation, gravity fer-mentation, no fining and no filtration most of the time.
Monteverro is farming organically since the beginning, and is certified since 2019.

The Birth of the Pianirossi estate is before all the fruit of the vision and efforts of Stefano Sincini, its owner.
A respected fashion entrepreneur born and raised in the culture of wine, Sincini discov-ered this magnificent location in 1999, at a stonethrow from Castello Banfi and the first slopes of Montalcino. At that time the estate was not dedicated to wine only.
Struck by the beauty of the place and the potential of the territory, he gathers around him an enthusiastic and highly competent team, under the advice of acclaimed oenologists Carlo Ferrini and Gioia Cresti.
A special ‘terroir’ like Pianirossi deserved a wine of its own, not just a copy of other successes. Stefano Sincini decided to bring from his native Marches plants of montepul-ciano to complement the traditional Tuscan sangiovese and the alicante and petit verdot. The vineyard has been completely reorganized, using the best clones and the latest vine training techniques. Natural slopes provide optimum water management and exposi-tion. No doubt that with the ageing of the vineyard, Pianirossi will become a point of reference in the new generation of Toscan estates, with a style and personality of its own.
The Pianirossi estate also hosts a beautiful ‘agriturismo’, nested in the breathtaking Maremma toscana nature. In this exceptional landscape of hills and old farms, one can enjoy the view of wild animals in the vineyard, after a day visiting the city of arts of Tus-cany .

Our family’s long-cherished wish was fulfilled when the wine estate Poggio Nibbiale was founded in 1998. The dream to grow wine amidst the impressive scenery of southern Tuscany became reality. During the following years we cultivated 11 hectare of land, es-tablished a modern winery and restored the medieval cellar from the 13th century below the church of San Giovanni Battista in Scansano.
The estate’s major part however is still governed by nature, the Mediterranean macchia with its almost impenetrable vegetation, old cork oaks, genista in full bloom and wild olive trees. Our vineyards are located in the hills of the Maremma between Scansano and Magliano in Toscana, 300 meters above the Tyrrhenian Sea with a magnificent view of the islands of Giglio, Elba, Montecristo and the Monte Argentario peninsula. Right from the start, we decided for organic viniculture and refrained from farming practices that aim primarily at a high yield. It is important for us to endow our wines with aromatic depth, refinement and complexity. Based on a deep understanding of the agricultural traditions of Tuscany and profound ecological knowledge, the estate’s enologist, Dott. Massimo Albanese, creates multi-layered wines abounding in elegance and regional authenticity. Our family’s philosophy of winemaking is simple: No show but quality, no vogues but sustainability and most importantly: passion, dedication and a true apprecia-tion for our land and its natural riches.

Tenuta Prima Pietra, owned by Massimo Ferragamo since 2002, is located on the spec-tacular Tuscan coast, a few kilometers from the sea, near Riparbella, extending along the southern slopes of Poggio di Nocola, above the right bank of the River Cecina. Here, the hill is punctuated with Mediterranean shrubs, fine vineyards and lush olive trees. Most of the vines are organically farmed.
The winery unfurls across a hill overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and comprises 200 im-pressive hectares, 11 of which are under vine - Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot - while the other land is covered in woods.
The estate’s vineyard is the highest along the Tuscan Coast, at 450 meters above sea level. The winery has been certified organic since 2016.
In February 2017 Tenuta Prima Pietra became a member of the Associazione Grandi Cru della Costa Toscana, founded over 10 years ago to promote a culture of quality among the wines produced in the Massa-Carrara, Lucca, Pisa, Livorno and Grosseto provinces, as well as the identity of every associate winery, connected by a common denominator, the Tyrrhenian Sea, whose breezes and aromas have a strong influence on the personali-ties of the wines and make this region a jewel in Tuscan winemaking.

Searching for the perfect Terroir and conditions for viticulture, especially for Pinot Noir, Kai Schubert and Marion Deimling, both being graduates of the German Viticulture and Oenology University in Geisenheim, travelled the world. Their voyage took them to wine regions in France & Germany, Oregon & California, South America and Australia. In New Zealand their quest finally ended and they settled in Martinborough in the Wairarapa Valley founding Schubert Wines; a unique place producing low yields in the vineyards with excellent quality grapes resulting in internationally award winning wines with in-tense and complex character which are exported to 36 countries.

Niepoort’s mission is to maintain its position of “niche player”, continuing to produce dis-tinctive ports and Douro wines, combining centuries-old tradition with innovation. This combination has come to include throughout our growth wines from two other regions that have contributed to marking out the Douro - Bairrada - Dão triangle.
The most recent points of the triangle (also) “produce the goods” and occupy a place that Niepoort considered important to recover, given the potential they possess, combining the undeniable legacy of Portugal’s winemaking past with the possibilities of innovation.
The importance we attach to the need to interpret soils, climates and grape varieties has led us on the path of Biodynamics, a relationship that looks to respect the “moods” of Nature, listening to nature in order to find a balance between biodiversity and the least possible intrusive intervention. In Biodynamics, we give particular attention to the interrelationship between all the people involved in a continuous demand for respect for their idiosyncrasies and appreciation of what they have and bring of best to the Niepoort family.
“Could we do any better?”
It depends. It depends on Niepoort continuing to make dreams come true, depends on the creation of the appropriate procedures and maintains the willingness to learn what characterizes us. But above all, the answer lies in the pleasure we gain from what we do.

720 years of winemaking.
Our principal goal is to produce distinctive, high-quality wines, rather than imitating for-eign characteristics or other regions.
A long time ago, we opted to prioritise elegance and complexity over mere potency or “loudness” – after all, when things get loud, the gentler notes get drowned out. Our creed is a simple one: wines worth savouring… and revisiting.
Tradition plus innovation means evolution.
Some things never change – they don’t need to. Weingut Graf Adelmann has a long, proud tradition, which it honours by combining classic virtues with all the benefits of mo-dernity. We’ve never been afraid to optimise our processes – but first and foremost, we see wine as a cultural asset, not an industrial product. Which is why certain production techniques, be they ever so widespread – using oak chips to add an artificial “barrique” flavour, for instance, or heating red grape must to intensify colour – have never found favour with us.
Yet the old-established methods are not always the best ones. Just because specific prac-tices are “handed down” or “passed on” (Lat. “traditio”), this does not mean everything is written in stone – quite the reverse, in fact. Evolution is of the essence – a lesson learned from nature herself. If a system is to endure, its weak spots must be pinpointed and rec-tified. To stand still is to fall behind.

One of the top wine growing regions of Germany, the Kaiserstuhl, is situated in the south-east corner of Germany in the Rhine plain, facing on one side the Black forest and at the other the Vosges. Here in the path of warm airstreams that originate in Burgundy lie the southern most slopes of the Kaiserstuhl. The “Ihringer Winklerberg” is probably the most highly prized site on the weathered, volcanic stone soil. Also the very stony “Freiburger Schloßberg” with his steepness of 70 % is one of the best situated vineyards in the region of Freiburg.
In 1881 the Stiglers laid the foundation of the family’s wine estate by purchasing a parcel of vines in the “Ihringer Winklerberg” site. In 1992 the Freiburger Schloßberg with his 1,5 ha was leased. Here, as throughout Baden, numerous grape varieties are grown- classics that have been cultivated for decades, including the Pinot family (Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc), Silvaner, Riesling and Traminer.
Special varieties like Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc at the Ihringer Winklerberg and Ca-bernet Franc, Petit Verdot at the Freiburger Schloßberg completed the portfolio in the following years.
The wines have a pronounced character. They are elegant, full-bodied wines rich in fruit and rounded acidity. They reflect the individual style of the winemaker and their region.

Founded in 1947, the winery Nik Weis – St. Urbans-Hof has become one of the most important and classic wine ambassadors for the Mosel region. Since 2000, the Riesling winery is member of Germany’s renowned VDP (Association of German Quality Wine Estates). From regional-level Estate Rieslings over delicate sweet-styled wines to pres-tigious dry Grands Crus, Nik Weis’ passion is to express the unique terroir of each wine. Therefore, grapes grow in more than six different steep vineyard sites in both the Mosel and Saar valley. A traditional, mostly manual cultivation as well as a natural, minimalistic cellar working practice lead to elegant, well-structured and complex wines with a high ageing potential. All wines are fermented by organic yeasts.

The formerly „Königlich-Preussische Weinbaudomäne“ was founded in 1902 as a state-owned viticultural domain focusing exclusively on Riesling. It was built on a impressive hillside in a beautiful panoramic position above the river Nahe.
In 2009 Jens Reidel and Dr. Christine Dinse discovered the potential oft the vinery. They bought the vinery and agreed on the new name „Gut Hermannsberg“, referring to one of the best vineyard sites in the Nahe region which is besides that a monopole site of Gut Hermannsberg. Achim Kirchner (managing director) and Karsten Peter (managing director and winemaker) are managing the fortunes of the winery. In collaboration with their team they consequently focus on the Riesling-Tradition of Gut Hermannsberg. Today Gut Hermannsberg is one of Germany’s most exciting Riesling-Estates. This tradi-tional estate, right on the river Nahe, owns 30 ha of vineyards which are all classified as VDP.Grosse Lagen by the VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter/ www.vdp.de), Germany’s association of top-vintners. The steep slopes of Gut Herannsberg like Kup-fergrube, the monopole-site Hermannsberg and the unique Traiser Bastei rank among Germany’s and the world’s the best Riesling-Sites. They are the cradle of wines showing a peculiar brilliance and extraordinary minerality.

Helmut & Cornelius Dönnhoff erhielten für ihre Arbeit zahlreiche Auszeichnungen: Unter anderem: 1999 Winemaker of the Year (Gault Millau und Feinschmecker), 2003 Wine Personality of the year (Wine Advocate), 2010 & 2011 & 2012 Bester trockener Riesling (Feinschmecker), 2012 Weingut des Jahres – Beste Weißweinkollektion (Eichelmann), 2012 Weingut des Jahres – Beste Weißweinkollektion (Eichelmann), 2012 Seigneur du vin (Grand Jury European).

Darunter so geschichtsträchtige Spitzen-lagen (Grand Cru/VDP.

Our hometown is the only Rheingau wine-growing community directly on the Main. The river forms a south-facing mountain cone shortly before it flows into the Rhine, which is shaded neither by the east nor the west. This favourable orientation as well as light reflection and heat storage of both rivers guarantee unique vineyard locations.
Franz Künstler, father of the present owner, laid the foundation stone for today’s interna-tionally renowned winery. The wine-growing tradition of the Künstler family goes back to the year 1648 in South Moravia.
In 1965 Franz Künstler re-founded the Künstler winery in Hochheim. Today, the Künstler winery covers 48 hectares of vineyards in Hochheim, Rüdesheim am Rhein and Assmann-shausen. On the Hochheimer and Rüdesheimer top sites 80% Riesling, 15% Pinot Noir as well as Chardonnay, Sauvignon-Blanc, Alvarinho, Grüner Veltliner and Merlot are culti-vated. The trained wine-growing and industrial engineer Gunter Künstler has been the owner of the winery since 1992.
Gunter Künstler’s aim is: Gentle and careful handling of the grapes in the vineyard and cellar. The natural vineyard care with greening of the vine rows and the renunciation of herbicides result in a healthy vineyard and healthy grapes. The grapes are mainly hand-picked and gently pressed. Depending on their origin, the musts are fermented in stain-less steel tanks and large classic wooden barrels. This results in powerful, extract-rich, terroir-stamped and lively wines.

The estate, founded in 1880 as part of a wine merchant company, has been owned by the Breuer family since the beginning of the 20th century. Georg Breuer enlarged the estate and increased the export of wines. His sons Bernhard and Heinrich and later Bernhard’s daughter Theresa expanded the vineyard size to 34 hectares in the best Rüdesheim and Rauenthal sites. From the early 80’s Bernhard Breuer’s efforts gained an international rep-utation for the estate. Today it is managed by his daughter Theresa Breuer and produc-tion manager of many years, Hermann Schmoranz, with the assistance of cellar master Markus Lundén.
We cultivate 34 hectares of vineyards in Rheingau, in Rüdesheim (27ha) and in Rauenthal (7ha), 62% of which is on steep slopes. Grape varieties: 81% Riesling, 10% Pinot Noir, 4% Pinot Gris, 5% Pinot Blanc, Orléans and Heunisch.
Our best vineyard sites in Rüdesheim: Berg Schlossberg (Artist label since 1980), Berg Rottland and Berg Roseneck, aswell as in Rauenthal: Nonnenberg (exclusive possession).

The Estate
The Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Estate is situated in the heart of the Pfalz wine growing region. The vineyards are located in the famous villages of Wachenheim, Forst, Deidesheim and Rup-pertsberg with varying structures of basalt, sandstone and limestone. Founded in 1597 by Bernhard Bürklin the estate is still in the same family and Bettina Bürklin-von Guradze who had taken over the reins of the estate in 1990 focuses on high quality dry Rieslings which clearly show the terroir.
After geological and historical research she discovered that the Burgundian classification matched exactly the Royal Bavarian Vineyard Classification of 1828 and therefore the estate classifies its wines accordingly.
Biodynamics
Out of respect for our vineyards and their wines we have worked biodynamically since 2005. Please visit us at www.buerklin-wolf.de for more Information.
The rediscovery of the term terroir is our expression of the respect for soil and for nature. We work without fungicides, herbicides, insecticides and mineral enriching nitrates. In-stead, cover crops are mechanically cut, the grape berry moth confused with phero-mone and leaf mould reduced by good canopy management. Soil enrichment takes place using homemade compost, horn manure and horn quartzite. We are the first non-French member of the well-known French organization Biodyvin (www.biodyvin.com).

Inspired by the work with traditional methods and processing techniques we produce elegant, wholesome wines full of finesse and great aging potential. They unite good balance with the interplay of mineral nuances, intensity and fullness.
VINIFICATION. Hand-picked grapes, long aging process in wooden barrels, spontaneous fer-mentation, spontaneous MLF, minimal addition of sulphur before bottling, high quality natural corks, bottle aging.
RIESLING Buntsandstein. The grapes for our Riesling grow only on Buntsandstein soils which are typical for this wine-growing area of the Palatine region. Short maceration, long pressing and spontaneous fermentation processes in 1200 l and 2400 l barrels, partly with whole grapes create Riesling wines full of character and great aging potential. The quality of our Riesling is enhanced by the one year aging process on the yeast.
PINOT NOIR Kalkstein. The grapes for the Pinot Noir grow only on vineyards with a high per-centage of lime and are fermented on the skins according to traditional methods. The aging of our Pinot in 500 l barrels takes about two years. Filling without filtration. Thus, we produce a clear and aromatic multi-faceted Pinot Noir full of depth.
RIESLING Brut, The grapes for our sparkling wines grow on old vineyards and are produced by traditional classic method. As a result of at least 32 months aging on the yeast our sparkling wines always display the filigree Riesling aroma and elegant, well integrated fine bubbles.

It’s been 5 years now since we first put down our roots in the Rheingau to found Weingut Kaufmann in Hattenheim. Since then a lot of water has flowed under the proverbial bridge — we’ve planted many new vineyards, opened a new tasting room and completed the transition to bio-dynamic farming.
Much of our time has been spent in the vineyards, learning and exploring the needs of our vines. This extra attention now is a valuable investment. It raises the chances come autumn that they will produce the amazing fruit we need to make the wines of our wildest dreams. The transition to bio-dynamic farming was for us simply the next logical step in the quest to produce our ideal Rheingau wine. In our case, patience is just as much a virtue as persistence. Life is a long, quietly flowing river. We are reminded of this every day when we pause from our labors in the Wisselbrunnen vineyard to watch the glittering silver Rhine River conducting its affairs. And again when we finally have the opportunity to enjoy — quite literally — the fruits of our labor. For us, wine is an incredible gift that we are very proud to share with our friends, guests, and customers.

Mosel – Unique Diversity
A single soil type, a single grape variety and one single valley … At first glance, this may sound monotonous. Yet the diversity of the Riesling wines grown on a single mountain slope is an amazing phenomenon. This diversity within a microcosm seems to be a typ-ical feature of truly great wine regions. Of course, the winemaker also plays an important part – always respecting nature and using his creativity to benefit the wines.
More than 20 years ago, a new era began for the Melsheimer winery. After working alongside his father for one year in this family business steeped in tradition, Thorsten Melsheimer embarked on his journey towards organic viticulture in 1995. This major step, which was very courageous at the time, has been very successful – for our vines and the wines we make, for our natural environment with its remarkable biodiversity – and for ourselves.
As winegrowers, we are directly responsible for a plot of land. We would not dream of seeing it as something that we merely “use” and “exploit”.
We believe that for great wines to evolve, but also to create and sustain healthy “sur-roundings”, nature, culture and human beings need to find a certain harmony. To get a feel for this harmony and to adjust our own contribution accordingly requires an attentive mind, a very sensitive approach, a certain level of altruism – and confidence.
We continue to learn – day by day.

Weingut Ökonomierat Rebholz has been making wine for three generation and is cur-rently run by Hansjörg Rebholz and his wife Birgit Rebholz is best known for its dry style of whites. The vines planted are Riesling and burgundy varietals such as Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Noir. They follow the old tradition of making pure and natural wines. This philosophy of purity is married with a daily quest for the highest possible quality in the wines. Rebholz combine aspects of biodynamic and organic agriculture. The vineyards were certified organic in 2008.
Weingut Ökonomierat Rebholz in the town of Siebeldingen on the German Wine Route proudly cultivates 24 hectares of world-class vineyards. Our winery building dates back to the 1500s and is both the heart of our estate and a place we are proud to call home. For well over 100 years now, it is where our family has lived, worked, celebrated and received guests and customers. Our wines’ recognizably Rebholz style owes much to our distinc-tive terroir and a philosophy of winemaking that stretches back across 3 generations.

Our winery is located 60 km west of Vienna in the Wagram winegrowing area. The Wa-gram is a striking plateau marking the ancient shore of a tertiary ocean and the bank of the Danube River. It offers optimal conditions to grow both white and red wines which our family has been doing now for three generations. We committed ourselves to the production of premium quality wines from the very beginning. Of our 17 ha (42 acres) of vineyards 62% are planted with white wine varieties and 38% with red.
With the whites, we cultivate solely the varieties Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. As pio-neers of red wine cultivation in the area we concentrate on Zweigelt and Pinot Noir.
The strength of the Wagram lies in its soils. It is the largest loess deposit in central Eu-rope with a depth of up to 12 meters (40 ft.). The loess is Aeolian (windblown) sediment derived from glacial outwash with a high content of lime. This allows expressive, unique wines full of character with good ageing potential. In some sites other soil layers appear like granite from the Bohemian Massif in the Steinberg or loamy ferrous soil in the Fog-gathal, which is perfectly suited for growing red wines.

Meinklang is an original, family-run mixed farm, set in the middle of the World Heritage Site of the National Park Neusiedlersee, on the Eastern side of the Neusiedlersee Lake, bordering directly on the Hungarian lowlands, where life’s diversity and complexity are celebrated.
This farm functions much like an organism, relying not only on the people but also on the local herd of cows which contributes in an essential way with their natural and invaluable fertiliser.
The farm’s diversity is enriched by ancient grains such as spelt, farro and Einkorn wheat, as well as the fruit orchards and vegetable gardens, meadows of wild herbs and flowers and the elegant charm of the grapevines.

More than 30 years ago Anita and Hans Nittnaus took over the family estate in Gols and further developed their vision of terroir-driven winemaking. The vineyards are farmed biodynamically, vinification is approached with the idea of working close to nature - low intervention and with the distinct expression of the terroir and vintage. The vineyards are situated around the northern shores of lake Neusiedl: the eastern side around the town of Gols (sand/loam/clay/gravel) as well as the western side around the town of Jois on the hills of the Leitha mountains (limestone/slate/mica-schist).

The Burja Estate connects a traditional Vipava winegrowing farm with modern under-standing of wine. We believe in integrity, rather than individual actions that solve one problem and open three new ones. We respect local varieties. We think that micro flora is an important part of each vineyard’s identity. The work in our vineyards, which are treated according to the principles of biological and biodynamic production, is in the spotlight. We are getting to know the details of soil and climate diversity for individual locations and we try to use this information to adjust different varieties and vineyard cultivation. In the wine cellar we control the temperature and oxidation. We try to work in synergy with the vine, wine and nature, including stimulating spontaneous fermenta-tion, which ensures the contact between grape skin and must also with the white wines. According to our opinion, the diversity of yeast strains contributes to the complexity of the wine and provides original expression of each vineyard.

Everything starts with Michel Chapoutier and his singular, out-of-the-box, all-embracing, inquisitive thinking. His quest is one of discovery and revelation of high-potential ter-roirs, how soils can express themselves, how each one can give that singular taste to each wine. A quest that is driven by daring: opening up to other horizons, other terroirs, whilst remaining a specialist of Rhone Valley grapes, the company’s true DNA. Creating encounters between tradition and modernity, dreaming up new forms of know-how, but always with the greatest possible respect… for the soil. Biodynamic farming is an essen-tial component of his expertise. Today, it’s standard practice. M.Chapoutier’s teams work to perpetuate the revelation of terroirs… such is their starting point.

Pian dell’Orino is situated 2 km southeast of Montalcino and has 11 ha of land, of which 6 ha are vineyards. They all are on the south-eastern slope of Montalcino, distributed among 4 different locations. Since 2004 we have classified our vineyards taking into con-sideration their different profiles. Every so classified quality of wine is, by way of these profiles, tied to a certain vineyard or portion of a vineyard. Geological and lithological parameters, soil texture, inclination, water supply are only some of the parameters we considered.
We always try to apply the scientific knowledge of chronobiology in our biodynamic acting and follow the rhythm of nature.
During the vegetation period we pass several times to cut bunches with the aim to keep only the best grapes for vinification. All harvested grapes undergo again a careful se-lection process by sorting berry per berry before going into the vat for fermentation. Neither artificial yeast or bacteria nor any other technological additives are used during the whole process of transformation in order to maintain the authentic and characteristic taste of our vineyards and of the vintage.
Then the wines are aged in big Slavonian and French oak barrels ranging from 10 to 50 hl. The total production varies each year depending on the vintage between 13.000 and 20.000 bottles. The winery is certified by ICEA for the organic agriculture and by Dem-eter for the biodynamic agriculture.

When the fruit of the earth comes from a place “in harmony with the forces of nature” there is already the potential for true “excellence.”
Ghizzano is an historical village nestled in the Pisan Hills, about 50 km south of Pisa.
It is here that the Estate of Venerosi Pesciolini Family was originally founded in the 14th century. Since the beginning vineyards and olive grows were the heart of the farms, producing “in the tradition”, that safe and solid quality maintained by “things done in a proper way”. Today the property of Tenuta Ghizzano encompasses 300 hectares; 20 dedicated to the vine, 20 dedicated to olive groves and approximately 150 to cereal and wheat. Since the Eighties our goal has been to give to the market high quality products, yelding limited quantities of elevated grades, according to the expression that wine and olive oil can give in our territory.
The Estate is Biodynamically farmed and now certified Demeter. The grapes are all pressed by feet and native yeasts are used in both the alcoholic and malolactic fermen-tations in order to exctract good tannins and give to the wines an authentic, territorial expression.
We have extreme care in the production and we strongly believe in the respect for na-ture, for tradition and for the territory in which we work and live. Tenuta di Ghizzano fo-cuses on 4 wines: Veneroso DOC Terre di Pisa, Nambrot IGT Costa Toscana, Il Ghizzano IGT Costa Toscana, Il Ghizzano Bianco IGT Costa Toscana.

Our 27.5 acres of vineyard are situated between 825 and 1150 feet on the hillsides be-tween Castellina Marittima and Riparbella and face the sea near the Tuscan coastline
The nearby presence of the Mediterranean, its warmth, its breezes, the total immersion in the Mediterranean brush make this a pristine spot, unique and uncontaminated.
Tuscany is a region of good living, of cordiality, of friendship, and of simplicity; it was here that we wished to plant our vineyards according to the principals of biodynamic agriculture. The winery is an integrated complex, one which is able to protect its integrity without chemical contamination.
We respect nature and its harmony, the vitality of its soil, its fruit; here human efforts are synchronized with the rhythms of the earth.

The Fattoria Serra San Martino is a family-run organic winery situated in the heart of Le Marche. In the soft hills between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine Mountains we are cultivating the autoctonal variety Montepulciano since 20 years. In addition we planted Merlot, Syrah and some Sagrantino vines. In 2010 we started working according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture. We produce two blends from predominantly Mon-tepulciano grapes and four single variety wines.Kirsten Weydemann

Tenuta Mara is not a simple vineyard, but a complex and complete organism, which grows and lives to the rhythm of the seasons. From when it came into being, it has been committed to the holistic principles of biodynamic agriculture: a productive agricultural practice which ethically respects the environment and labour, capable of producing foods that nourish human being as a whole – at a physical, relational and energy level – with absolutely no use of any chemical substance. All fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides commonly used in conventional viticulture are prohibited.
Andante, moderate adagio, allegro, presto: rhythm, so important in music, regulates the seasons and the cycle of life. The harmonic progressions of notes, as claimed by Py-thagoras, reproduced in scales as the universal language of the cosmos: the harmony of nature has a soul of music.

We are a small estate on the shores of Lake Garda. Thanks to our daily hard work and Nature’s gifts, we seek to produce a unique wine, bestowing wonderful sensations on those who know how to respect Nature and its rhythms, and who love quality of life, sim-plicity and balance. Le Sincette is the name of the plots on which our vineyards and olive groves are cultivated. The symbol of the 15 Moons recalls the lunar phases, so important for the natural cycles and processes, both on the vine and in the cellar. We’re certified by Demeter since 2011.

Our awareness of nature’s rhythms and cycles has been perfected through observation over time: each season opens new horizons, every day we learn and understand a little more. We have learnt to pay attention, to grasp the subtle differences existing in nature and to preserve the true character of the grape in the expression of its land of origin. Our daily farming gestures are elevated to creative impulses: we wake up every morning conscious about being free to work according to the message that the earth conveys to us in that moment.
We work surrounded by mountains, cultivating Teroldego and Pinot Grigio on alluvial soils of the Campo Rotaliano, Nosiola and Manzoni Bianco on the calcareous-clayey hills of Cognola.
We are certified by ICEA and Demeter since 2009.
We harvest the grapes from vineyards covering 30,5 hectares - 70% of Teroldego, 15% of Manzoni Bianco, 10% of Nosiola and 5% of Pinot Grigio - to produce an average of 160,000 bottles per year: 80,000 of Foradori, 20,000 of Granato, 25,000 of Fontanasanta Manzoni Bianco, 10,000 of Fontanasanta Nosiola, 6,000 of Fuoripista Pinot Grigio and 10,000 for each of vineyards of Sgarzon and Morei.

A wine cellar. A home... my family home. History unfolding and interweaving with my life... the purpose I want to give to my life. That’s how things should be, I feel. And, in an unending process that leaves no room for second thoughts, the choices in real life perfected through experience become the “right” choices even in the countryside, in the cellar, in work and in relationships with others, highlighting the values of life and work themselves. We and others including nature in respect and coherence. No excesses or leaps forward... Only personal dedication to the search for the best possible balance between things.

Musella is situated in the Valpolicella Zone, on the hills of San Martino Buon Albergo, one of the most beautiful and self-contained estates of the Veneto region, contained on a circolar park. Musella is a National Park which consists of 400 hectres of forests, small lakes, historical buildings, Olives trees and of course vineyards.
Twenty years ago Emilio Pasqua Di Bisceglie wanted to change his life. He bought a part of the Musella Estate, a historical and natural oasis located in the east side of Verona. His passion and vision was to embark on a rather enthusiastic project to create a family owned and run business which at the time seemed rather over ambitious. His wife Grazi-ella always at his side followed all the renovation of the old buildings and she later start the charming Relais, having 15 rooms in the historical courtyard, where they live.
Maddalena joined the family business since the beginning in 1995. She always follows her father in every aspect of the business. In 2009 she introduced the Biodynamic method of agriculture and vinification in Musella. A project which she holds very close to her heart and executes with great enthusiasm.
Enrico joined to Musella in 1999 and immediately shared the passion and the enthusiasm for this project. He is focused on the all technical aspects of Musella, but as for the rest of the family, he is involved in every key decision of the business.

Gilvesy Pincészet (Gilvesy Cellars) is situated on the slopes of Szent György-Hegy (Mount St. George), one of the ancient volcanic buttes located north of lake Balaton in Hungary. Szent György-Hegy is in the Badacsony appellation.
Robert Gilvesy established the winery in 2012 and now produces organic grown grapes on 16 hectares. The cellar focuses on the expression of place, it being one of Hungary’s historically significant and rejuvenating wine regions. Our traditionally significant varie-tals include Riesling, Riesling Italico, and Furmint. Sauvignon Blanc, introduced to Szent György-Hegy in the 1970’s has also become a confident conveyor of our terroir. Gilvesy Pincészet also produces wines under the Martinus label from fruit grown at Márton Rup-pert’s vineyards located on Tagyon-Hegy (Mount Tagyon). Tagyon Hegy is in the Balaton-füred-Csopak appellation.

The winery was founded by the banker Carl Gunderloch in 1890. Riesling was the focus from the very beginning. The grape variety finds an ideal environment on the steep 250-million-year-old red shale cliffs where climatic and geological conditions allow the creation of expressive and unique wines. The heart of the estate is the Rothenberg vine-yard in Nackenheim. Sixteen vineyard hectares are currently cultivated with 85% of the vineyard area dedicated to Riesling.
Recently Johannes Hasselbach took over the winery from his parents Agnes and Fritz. He is the 6th Generation winemaker in the Gunderloch family. According to his under-standing wine is created in the vineyards. Humans can only accompany the creation pro-cess: “It is important to understand that we are in the duty of our vineyards. We try to find the right measures to help the vine to find its natural balance in the given circumstances of the growing season. In our daily work the vineyard is always in the focus. There we create circumstances, which allow us to be very restrictive in our actions and allow our wines to generate their own personal character. Conscientious interaction with nature is an absolute imperative and we treat our vineyards as an irreplaceable treasure.”

Over the past generation, the Jurtschitsch winery in Langenlois / Kamptal has grown into one of the most prominent top wineries in Austria. Having being run by the three brothers Edwin, Paul and Karl Jurtschitsch, the family-owned winery has now been passed on to the younger generation, to Alwin and Stefanie Jurtschitsch.
This family business succession has been prepared thoroughly. The couple travelled around the world, gathering experience in New Zealand and Australia. Working as in-terns in famed wineries in France, they got to know the French school of the Old Wine World. “It was a wonderful time and we learnt a lot. Now, we can put the ideas and the experience we have gained into practice back home in the Kamptal”, explains Alwin Ju-rtschitsch.
A first step was the change-over to an organic cultivation of the family-owned vineyards. It was followed by a reduction of the wine-growing sites so that they could concentrate of the first-class appellations of the Kamp Tal. And all this went smoothly and with a great deal of sensitivity and respect for tradition.

Weingut Bernhard Ott is a family owned company since 1889. Bernhard is the fourth generation of the Ott family and has been leading the winery since 1995. The winery concentrates on the most important grape on the Wagram - the Grüner Veltliner, a grape with much more finesse, more fullness and much more elegance. The deep loess soils of his home in the Wagram region provide perfect conditions for this variety to express the uniqueness of this extraordinary terroir. Bernhard Ott’s intense desire to produce some-thing unique and preserve the singularity which nature provides his wines has inspired him to shift to biodynamic cultivation.
Vintage 2018 is very special, due to the fact that the winery processed 100% organic grapes and, as always, all grapes are handpicked. In this special year the famous wine Grüner Veltliner “Fass 4®” celebrates its 30th birthday!

Ein Familienbetrieb. Unkompliziert und keiner Tradition verpflichtet. Experimentier-freude und Neugierde. Mit Leidenschaft und Begeisterung.
Handarbeit, soweit es geht. Nachhaltigkeit und Respekt vor der Natur.
Handmade Wines. Nur unsere Weingärten und wir.
Biologische Bewirtschaftung: nachhaltig und vielfältig. Mischkultur statt Monokultur. Die Rebe und der Boden, tief verwurzelt. Weil’s was bringt.
Händische Ernte, vollreife Trauben, schonende Verarbeitung, keine Kompromisse. „Qualität vor Quantität“. Was uns nicht überzeugt, wird nicht verkauft. Kritisches Hinterfragen statt Nummer sicher. Ist unbequem, aber macht sich bezahlt. Wie unsere Handarbeit.

On the Spitzerberg in eastern-most Austria lies the twelve-hectare wine estate founded by Dorli Muhr and Dirk van der Niepoort.
The Spitzerberg is a wine site that had fallen into oblivion over the last 50 years. But in earlier times, it was known as one of the best red wine sites in Austria. A western foot-hill of the Little Carpathians, the Spitzerberg features soils of pure limestone with an extremely thin layer of humus. And because its climatic conditions and meagre soils are unique in Central Europe, the Spitzerberg is particularly well known amongst biologists and plant researchers.
The Spitzerberg’s distinctive terroir, together with the spiciness of the Blaufränkisch va-riety and extremely small production from old vines result in wines that reflect the tastes of the wine duo producers: elegant, not pompous, and with structure, length and plenty of freshness.
The grapes are organically grown, carefully handpicked and softly macerated. The winery of Muhr-van der Niepoort is a simple barn with just the most important equipment, as most of the work is handmade, anyhow. All wines ferment spontaneously, without any use of selected yeasts. The maturation takes place in large oak barrels and with nearly no interfering. The wines mature very slowly, like in ancient times.

Sattlerhof is more than just a winery to us – it is the central focus and home of our family since 1887. We place great value on working closely with nature to produce our wines. Sustainable soil management and longevity of our vines are important to us. Our vine-yards are a complexly balanced habitat and preservation of biodiversity is a central focus. Since the 2016 vintage, our wines carry the green seal of organic certification. Because our high quality demands can only be achieved through stringent yield reductions, me-ticulous manual labour, and selective handpicking in small crates, we rely heavily on the support of our experienced team. Because quality and sustainability are so important to us, we guarantee our customers 100 % regional origin. Every single grape comes from our vineyards in Südsteiermark. We cultivate multiple small parcels in very steep slopes at optimal elevations, thus preserving a centuries-old cultural landscape. It is a very de-manding task to deal with the unpredictable climate with abundant precipitation in Süd-steiermark, but this is also what forms the inimitable character of our wines.

The Austrian family winery Tement is situated in Berghausen, Südsteiermark on a small mountain plateau above the single vineyard Zieregg. Visitors and enjoy a breath-taking panoramic view of the steep slopes of the surrounding vineyards.
The sons Armin and Stefan represent the third generation of the family winery and strive to continue their parents‘ work with the same quality awareness and sense for tradition. Together with their father Manfred, Armin and Stefan produce origin accentuated and handcrafted wines gained by organic vineyard management combined with low harvest yields. Their terroir wines show strong independence, reflect their region and soil and show great ageing potential. Elegant and balanced wines with puristic minerality.
Effective from the harvest 2018, the family winery became a certified organic producer.

“I like to surprise myself,” says Fred Loimer. He definitely is - and always was - good for surprises. Such as in 2000, in Langenlois, where he wedded a historical brick vaulted cellar with a minimalist black cube, thus creating a lovely architectural cellar ensemble. Or, in 2006, when he began to apply bio-dynamic methods to his vineyards. With that, Loimer founded one year later with fellow winemakers the “respekt-Biodyn” association, which focuses on the continuous and consistent implementation of biodynamic princi-ples in viticulture.
Weingut Loimer cultivates 70 hectares of vineyards. The grapes are grown in premium sites such as Käferberg, Spiegel, Steinmassl, Seeberg, Loiserberg, Heiligenstein and Dechant. Fred Loimer’s wines - mainly Grüner Veltliner and Riesling as well as some Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Zweigelt and Pinot Noir – do not strive for attention with massive alcohol content and intense sweetness; they are pure, effortless wines defined by their origin and biodynamic care.
When it comes to wine-growing that is in sync with nature, you can be sure that Loimer creates wines with regional character and typicity. Ultimately, however, it is not a ques-tion only of the conservation of soil and resources, but also of quality.

Alles Natur, oder was!?

Erwin Tinhof owns vineyards in Eisenstadt, that grow on the slopes of the Leitha Moun-tains. The grapes nurtured are indigenous varieties, and this has been so for 11 genera-tions.
The 16 hectare estate is cultivated in tune with local nature; Erwin Tinhof practises dry farming and does not apply any use of insecticides or herbicides, nor artificial fertil-isation, to any of his vines. The estate vineyards are up to 50 years old, and contain grape varieties that are virtually completely Austria, such as the white Neuburger and Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) as well as the black varieties Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt and increasingly Sankt Laurent. The wines are produced from estate vineyards and following a hand harvest and winemaking with minimal intervention, the wines are bottled in the Tinhof winery.
Effective from the 2012 harvest, the winery became a certified naturally organic pro-ducer.

Our wine estate is located in the Lake Ne-usiedl-Seewinkel National Park in the prov-ince of Burgenland – a unique area in Aus-tria, which also informs the character of our winery and wine. We produce only a few but excellent wines. Everything we do draws from the nature and culture of the Seewinkel area – because the Seewinkel in Burgenland is the key to the exceptional quality of our wine. We let nature work on the wine. We harvest perfect grapes at the point of their fullest and most balanced ripeness. The must is not subjected to either chemical or mechanical processes. And we do not sell our wines until two years after the harvest. With but a few exceptions, all our wines de-velop in wood barrels
At the Velich wine estate, wines are exposed to the yeast for a long period of time to en-sure optimal fermentation. We only use natural yeasts from the vineyards. They are part of the region and therefore guarantee a unique, unmistakable flavor.
“Burgenland is a fascinating wine region and Blaufränkisch is a great grape varietal. Consequently, our aim is to create wines with the un-exchangeable identity of Burgen-land.“ Roland Velich, owner.
In 2016, for the fifth time, the highly influential U.S. wine maga-zine Wine&Spirit Magazine nomi-nated Moric in their 100 best win-eries of the world.
