Der Passivsatz drückt aus, mit wem oder womit etwas geschieht.
Es ist nicht wichtig / bekannt, wer die Handlung ausführt.
� New York is often called the Big Apple.
Mit der Präposition by wird der „Täter” / „Verursacher” genannt.

Bildung: eine Form von be + 3. Form des Verbs (past participle)

How far does the past go?

Past perfect
Das past perfect (Plusquamperfekt) drückt aus, dass ein Vorgang vor einem
anderen Vorgang in der Vergangenheit stattgefunden hat. Um zu zeigen, was
zuerst passiert war, wird das past perfect verwendet. Mit dem simple past drückt
man dann aus, was danach geschah.
� As soon as I had passed my exams, I went to Bali for the holidays.
Signalwörter: when, as soon as, after, before, already
Bildung: immer had (not) + 3. Form des Verbes (past participle)
� had been / had not arrived / had moved / had called / had eaten
