Richtkoppler mit KoppelschleifenDirectional couplers with coupling loops
18 Edition C
For waveguides of sizes R14 through R32 directionalcouplers with attached coupling loops are preferred. The advantage of this technology is the extremelycompact shape. The coupling can be choosed and canbe adjusted between 30 and about 60 dB, with a frequency response in the waveguide's IEC frequencyband being ± 3dB. The minimum directivity is 35 dB, ina narrower frequency range (1:1.15) 40 dB can beachieved.
• flanges silver plated• coaxial connection silver plated• external surface painted black
(RAL 9005, fine structure)

SPINNER waveguide switches have been developedand designed for excellent technical features. Thefollowing technical details deserve mention:
Bistable (latching) switching Bistable (latching) switching is the switching from onestable condition into another whenever the controlvoltage is applied. Therefore a pulse is sufficient as acontrol signal, i. e. after switching presence of thecontrol voltage is not required any longer. In the eventof power failure the last switch position is retained. Thesame is true after re-starting the system.
Signal contactsSignal contacts are sets of contacts in a switch actua-tion system which give an external indication ofvarious switch positions. Signal contacts are designedpotential-free, which allows the user to employ them athis discretion within limits of the specific maximumload (max. 48V / 0.5A).
Interlock contactsThe interlock contacts (max. load 48V / 0.5A) duplica-te the RF-contacts and allow to remove the RF powerprior and during the switching.
Manual operationIn manually operated switches the user selects thedesired switch positions by means of a knob at theswitch. The switch is locked in its terminal positions sothat the selected switch position is kept, even duringvibration or rotation around the rotor axis.

Motor driveIn switches with motor drive a capacitor motor(230V / 50-60Hz) with a gear generates the torquerequired for actuating the switch. The drive system iscontrolled by the integrated electronic operating at12V or 24V DC. This drive system has a 90° rotationangle and is locked in its terminal positions. A hightorque makes for short switching times, which areeven achievable for large switches such as R58 orlarger.
Solenoid driveIn switches with solenoid drive the torque is generatedby a rotatable magnet located in a stationary coil. Thedrive system is locked in both terminal positions(bistable). The operating voltage (preferably 24V DC)is used to control the drive system. This drive systemcan achieve extremely short switching times(e. g. <100 ms for the R120 waveguide switch). Therefore magnetic drive is mainly used for waveguideswitches R58 and smaller.

Hypocycloidic gearIn switches with hypocycloidic gear the drive and thebasic switch element are connected by a specialgear developed by SPINNER. The hypocycloid gearchanges torque and angular velocity over the switchrotation range. At the beginning of the switchingprocess a very high torque is available, while theangular velocity of the switch rotor is fairly low. As therotation angle grows bigger angular velocity increasescontinuously, while torque decreases. When the rotorhas passed its central position the behaviour is in-verted, angular velocity decreases, and the availabletorque rises again. The actuation system is mechani-cally locked in its terminal positions.
Degree of protectionIP 40 was chosen as the general degree of protectionso that the switches are suitable for indoors installationin any position.
Storage and operating temperaturesThese temperatures were defined as +10°C to +40°Cfor operation and –20°C to +80°C for storage.Switches for larger temperature ranges and foroutdoors installation are available on request.
