vor 3000 Mio. Jahren: PhotosyntheseDie ersten Zellen beginnen, das Sonnenlicht als Energiequelle zu nutzen. Es sind die Vorläufer der Blaualgen, die es heute noch gibt. Sie produzieren Sauerstoff, der aber zunächst von dem gelösten Eisen in den Meeren gebunden wird. Das Eisenoxid flockt aus und bildet die gebänderten Eisenerz-Formationen, die wir heute nutzen, um Eisen zu gewinnen.
3000 Mya: PhotosynthesisThe first cells began to use sunlight as an energy source at this time. These were the predecessors of blue-green algae, which still exist today. They produced oxygen, but it was quickly bound and sequestered by iron that was dissolved in the ocean. This iron oxide precipitated, forming the banded iron formations that are used today in modern iron production.
