PROCESSING INSTRUCTIONS EUROLIGHTWORKTOPS
With EUROLIGHTworktops EGGER is offering a new generation of worktops. Using EUROLIGHTlightweight boards as a core material,
the worktops meet the modern design requirement for thicker worktops. A further advantage is the low weight, as well as the guarantee
that even these lightweight worktops are compliant with all quality features compared with conventional worktops. Whatever they
encounter on a daily basis, the surfaces will retain their high performance characteristics providing that you follow our recommendations
on processing and assembly very closely. The following instructions are for a kitchen work surface.
PROCESSING INSTRUCTIONSEGGER EUROLIGHTWORKTOPS
. Description of the materialEUROLIGHTworktops are composite elements consisting of E EUROLIGHTlightweight boards, with the surface and/or profiles being
seamlessly laminated with decorative EGGER laminate. The utilisation rate of a worktop is basically determined by the laminate properties,
such as abrasion resistance, impact resistance and scratch resistance. The reverse side of the worktop is finished as standard with a
moisture-resistant balancer paper (GZP).To protect against moisture, the underside of the worktop in various models example model/ has a standard PU-hot-melt adhesive coating.
For further details, please see EUROLIGHTworktops technical data sheet.

. HANDLING
Check the EUROLIGHTworktop for obvious damage after removing the packaging. Anyone involved in transporting the worktops should
wear personal safety gear (safety shoes, gloves, suitable work wear, etc.).
. Processing
. CUTTING
The worktops can be cut to size using standard woodworking equipment, e.g. panel saws, bench circular saws, hand-held circular saws
or jigsaws and also CNC routers. Panel saws or bench circular saws are generally used to cut the worktops to size. A good cutting result
depends on different factors including whether the decor side is facing upwards, saw blade projection, feed rate, tooth shape, toothspacing, motor speed and cutting speed. Example: Circular saw
Cutting speed: approximately to m/sec.
Motor speed: approximately , to , rpm.
Feed rate: maximum m/min (manual feed)
With the exception of panel saws and CNC routers, all cutting involves manual feed. The high-quality melamine resin used for the
surface of the EGGER laminate means that the tool wear is considerably greater than with normal melamine resins. We recommend that
you use carbide metal-tipped or even diamond-tipped saws or router bits. Use the following tooth shapes depending on the standard of
finish you require (coarse or fine cut):
Flat tooth Alternating tooth Duplovit tooth
concave tooth chest
Duplovit tooth
with bevel
Roof Duplovit tooth Trapezoidal
flat tooth
A cutting guide rail should be used when using manual circular saws or jigsaws. The cutting must be performed from the underside of
the board.

PROCESSING INSTRUCTIONS EUROLIGHTWORKTOPS
. EDGING WITH EGGER ABS EDGING
We recommend finishing the end or transverse edge of the worktop with x . mm, x mm or x mm EGGER ABS Edging. These
decorative edges have a protective and a design function for the finishing of worktops. We recommend EGGER Universal Glue or a
contact adhesive for bonding the ABS Edging by hand. The glue should be applied evenly to a clean and dust-free chipboard edge using
a paint brush. Then the ABS Edging is pressed on with an edge press, gluing press or screw clamps using a rigid underlay, ensuring that
there is sufficient overhang of edging on both the face and the underside of the worktop.
Please observe the specifications of the glue and adhesive manufacturer.
We recommend using edge routing tools or special cutting blades for the finishing of ABS edges. Any further finishing which is required
can be done with a draw blade to even out possible irregularities from routing. The edges are then buffed in order to remove any dirt and
to create an edge profile. The use of matching melamine edging or laminate requires a chipboard frame to be glued afterwards. This is
due to the low tension and shock resistance characteristics of the melamine edging and laminates
For further detailed information please refer to the Finishing the edges of EUROLIGHTworktopswith ABS edging instructions.
. EDGE FINISHING WITH EUROLIGHTDECOR PROFILE
We have developed a new solution for the end or transverse edge finishing of EUROLIGHTworktops for the EUROLIGHTworktops stock
range. The EUROLIGHTdecor profile is designed for a worktop thickness of mm and available from stock with decors. The profile
allows for quick and easy edge finishing. The decor profile is based on the T-profile principle, except for the front side of the decor profile
which is covered with a PP edge of a matching decor (see illustration ).The profile matches the base colour of the PP edge in terms of
colour and covers the entire worktop thickness. Processing is similar to the T-profile and the ABS edges respectively and is only slightly
different.

For further detailed information please refer to the Finishing the edges of EUROLIGHTworktops with the EUROLIGHTdecor profile
instructions.
. CUTOUTS
For these areas in particular, the EUROLIGHTT-profile has been developed especially for EUROLIGHTworktops. The necessary pressure
stability is achieved via this profile by matching to standard thicknesses of , and mm. Before processing, ensure that the
worktop is supported securely and that sawing, routing or drilling is not likely to cause any damage. In particular, narrow joining areas
in the board can break or crack if the board is inappropriately handled during processing. The board cut-outs should also be secured to
ensure that they not suddenly fall out or break. This could injure persons or property.
Always read through the instructions and use the assembly templates provided by the manufacturers.
Oven and sink cut-out edges should be rounded because cracks can form in sharp edges (see illustration ). This applies particularly to
the hob area. The frequent exposure to heat in these areas causes the laminate to dry out and the shrinking tension is therefore much
greater.

Please allow for additional thickness when cutting out the hob/sink
The cut-outs should preferably be produced using a hand-held or CNC router. If using a jigsaw you need to pre-drill the corners to the
biggest possible radius and saw from radius to radius. You should cut from the underside of the board to prevent the laminate coating
from ripping off. Finish off the cut edges with sandpaper, files or hand-held routers to remove chips and prevent cracking.

. EUROLIGHTTPROFILE PROCESSING INSTRUCTIONS
The EUROLIGHTT-Profiles are a necessary accessory for EUROLIGHTWorktops and were specially developed for sink and hob cut-outs.
The two right angled profiles of the T-profiles are slotted between the mm surface layers of the worktops (see illustration ).The
T-profiles not only protect sink and hob cut-outs from heat and moisture, they also guarantee the necessary pressure stability. In the
area around hob cut-outs, a self-adhesive aluminium tape should also be applied to provide additional protection against heat radiation
to the T-profile. The profiles are matched to the EUROLIGHTWorktops standard thicknesses of , and mm.

EGGER Universal Glue
T-Profile width
EUROLIGHTworktops are effectively protected from moisture penetration by the laminate surface. Moisture and damp can still reach
the core material, however, via unprotected edges such as cut-outs, corner joints, mitres, long back edges, drill holes, screw holes and
fixtures. Moisture can cause unprotected edges worktops to swell near oven or sink cut-outs! For bonding EUROLIGHTT-Profile, we
recommend EGGER Universal Glue, which should be applied to both sides (see illustration ).As the profile will move back by approximately
mm with respect to the worktop thicknesses (see table), unprotected areas must be subsequently sealed.

These exposed areas must be sealed at the final installation stage.
The best products for sealing worktops have been found to be sealing profile and self-curing sealants such as silicon rubber,
polyurethane and acrylic. When using sealants you must also use a primer; either one that forms a film or a cleaning primer depending
on the material.
You must follow the manufacturers instr uctions caref ully when using these materials.
It is absolutely essential that you clean the areas you are sealing and to allow the manufacturers specified venting time when usingprimer. Apply the sealant leaving no gaps or holes and the smooth over with water and detergent. Mask off areas near joints to prevent
the surface from becoming dirty. Any pipes or leads running through the worktop should be centred with a minimum distance of to
mm on either side and carefully sealed (see illustration ).
Illustration
Cut edges can also be sealed using a two-part lacquer or two-part adhesive. Manufacturers supply sealing rings, profiles or collars with
attachments such as mixer taps, sinks and hobs. Always follow the manufacturers instructions when fitting these items.

Cut-outs for hobs or sinks must be produced according to the measurements and positioning details and/or using templates supplied
by the manufacturer. The cut edges must be carefully protected against moisture according to no. ..Accompanying or integrated dry
seals and fastening screws provided by the manufacturer must be used according to their assembly instructions. In general, the fastening
screws must be designed for a worktop thickness of mm, and for this purpose EGGER has developed the EUROLIGHTsink installation
adapter. The adapter can be used for many sink brands and the adapters and fastening screws are assembled by simply inserting them
into each other (see illustration ).
. POSITIONING AND FITTING SINKS AND HOBS
Illustration
The fastening screws shown in illustration are typcial, expecially for sinks. Attachment rails or fixing brackets to opposing screws can
be screwed directly onto the EUROLIGHTT-profile. For any type of hobs stainless steel, glass ceramics the cut-outs should in all
cases be made according to the instructions and installation templates supplied by the manufacturer.
Please refer to the instructions for EUROLIGHTworktops hob installation for the detailed instruction of the individual steps in
installing hobs.
Ensure correct centring and an adequate safety margin to the cut edge, particularly for hobs. Follow the manufacturers instructions.
The hub must not abut against the surface for safety reasons, as elevated temperatures are possible in the event of a malfunction.
The worktop should not measure less than mm at any one place. For ergonomic reasons the distance between the hob area and an
upright cupboard should not be less than mm. Allow for the hob manufacturers specified safety margin. The same distance is
recommended for the gap between the sink and the hob (see illustration ).
Illustration
For safety reasons as much as for ergonomic reasons, kitchen designs should be discussed with a kitchen specialist and fitting carried
out by an authorised specialist. Particularly electricity, gas and water supply connections must be carried out by trained specialists.
In the region of corner connections, a minimum distance of mm must be taken into account during planning (see illustration ).

Once the sections have been implemented in the worktops, any further transportation must be carried out while observing the utmost
caution as to prevent snapping at thin points. Worktops should be carried upright because cut-outs can be damaged more easily if the
boards are car ried horizontally.
In general EUROLIGHTworktops can span distances of , mm to , mm without joints, and boards need rarely be joined end to
end. However, they are frequently joined at corners. These should not be weakened by notches or cut-outs such as for hobs or sinks
(see illustration ).Corner joints on worktops are made by mitring on the circular saw or routing using CNC routers and/or especially
using hand-held routers with the aid of templates (see illustrations and ).
. WORKTOP JOINTS AND CORNER JOINTS
To be able to implement EUROLIGHTworktops with a thickness mm using milling templates we have developed the EGGER milling
template as well as a matching hand-held router bit in cooperation with the LEUCO company (see illustrations and ).

Worktop corner connections can be easily made using the EGGER milling template and commercial hand-held router bits and end milling
cutters. The milling template may either be used for EUROSPANworktops (chipboard core) or EUROLIGHTworktops (lightweight
cardboard honeycomb core). In addition to milling corner connections (contour milling) you can also use the template to make the
required millings for the worktop connectors.
Illustration
The EUROLIGHTworktop connector is available in two different lengths ( and mm) and matched to the thicknesses , and
mm and in three different fitting depths. Please see illustration for the drillling diameter and depths. The positioning and number
of EUROLIGHTworktop connectors used must be the same as shown in illustration or implemented depending on the worktop width.
Taking into account adhesive curing and the fastening tension, height levelling is possible via the EUROLIGHTworktop connectors.

Worktop joints and corners need to fit perfectly and be completely sealed, and not just for aesthetic reasons. They need to repel any
moisture which can cause swelling of the chipboard. The individual worktops are attached using the specially developed EUROLIGHT
worktop connectors (see illustrations and )or the EUROLIGHTworktop connectors type M (see illustrations and )plus
additional adhesion.

The following work stages should be observed when executing worktop corner joints:
a.) Remove any wood chips near the cut or milled edges with sand paper (grade ).
The same is true for the chips or loose parts located in the honeycomb layer.
b.) Bevel the laminate slightly along the joint with a sanding sponge or sandpaper (grade ).
c.) Lay the worktops on the cupboard framewor k and check the joints and fitting holes for correct fit.
d.) Apply glue, D quality, to the central and lower area of the joint.
e.) Apply sealant (e.g. Helmipur SH ) evenly and continuously to the top routed or cut edge and to the profile and longback edge. You should do this just before screwing the worktop connectors in place.
f.) Join worktops, insert fittings and tighten screws slightly. Align worktops horizontally and vertically. Tighten worktop
connectors fingertight after aligning. When tightening, you must check that the two worktop surfaces remain aligned and
the sealant emerges on all sides. Do not place any stress on the worktops while the sealant is hardening.
g.) Remove excess sealant immediately. Clean the worktop surface using a suitable cleaning agent such as citrus cleaner or
acetone. Caution: Acetone can affect the surface if left for a long period. We therefore recommend masking off the joint area
with masking tape.

Worktops are particularly subject to steam and heat near dishwashers and ovens. In addition to the lacquer coating and the PU hot-melt
adhesive coating you should also protect the underside of the worktop by structural means. Appliance manufacturers supply aluminium
repellent strip, which you must use. This moisture-repellent strip deflects and expels steam and heat (see illustrations and ).
Read the manufacturers instructions carefully before assembling.
. Structural water-repelling measures
. Wall connection and anchoring
Thanks to their resistant, hygienic and waterproof laminate surfaces, EUROLIGHTworktops do not need special care. As a general rule
dirt and spilled substances such as tea, coffee, wine etc. should be cleaned immediately as the cleaning work increases if they are left to
dry. When necessary, cleaning should be done with non-aggressive agents. Cleaning agents must in particular not contain any abrasive
components, as they may adversely affect the gloss level or scratch the surface. Due to everything from light and fresh to severe andstubborn stains being possible in daily use, and which are caused by the most varied substances, correct cleaning is an important matter.
. Maintenance and cleaning recommendations
Before sealing the long edge of the worktop against a wall, make sure that it is not just adequately supported but is also joined to the
sub-frame. Stresses can otherwise occur that will interfere with the sealing joint. When fitting, make sure that the worktop is not tilted
towards the wall. This will result in water collecting at the joint area. Clean and degrease around the sealant area on both the worktop as
well as the wall joint and pre-treat with a bonding agent depending on the sealant used.
Even if using Worktop-Wall Profiles, you need to seal the long back edge and all transverse edges which abut to a wall with sealant (see
illustration ).When attaching the basic Worktop-Wall Profile, ensure that the laminate is predrilled in the screw fastening area. The
holes must be at least mm larger than the screw diameter to prevent stresses building up in the material (see illustration ).We also
recommend protecting the inside of the screw hole with sealant before screwing.

PROCESSING INSTRUCTIONS EUROLIGHTWORKTOPS
The following instructions should be observed in daily use.
Lighted cigarettes placed directly on worktop sur faces will damage the surface.
Always use an ashtray.
In general, the worktops should not be used as cutting surfaces because knife cuts can leave marks on the otherwise resistant
laminate surfaces. Always use a cutting board.
Avoid placing hot cooking utensils, e.g. casseroles, pans, etc. that have come straight from the oven or the hob onto the
worktop. The radiated heat will leave a dull ring or may even damage the surface. Always use heat protection.
Spilled liquids should always be cleaned up immediately, since longer exposure times of certain substances may affect the
gloss level of the worktop. Spilled liquids must be consequently and quickly wiped up especially in the areas around cut-outs
and worktop connections.
These recommendations apply especially to matt and gloss laminate surfaces, which have a distinctive look and feel but have a greater
tendency to show wear and tear.

For finishing the edges of EUROLIGHTWorktops we have developed the EUROLIGHTDecor profile so that edge finishing can be
performed quickly and without any difficulties. The decor profile is based on the same principle as the T-profile with the main difference
being that the front side of the decor profile is decor matched and that the whole worktop thickness is covered. The processing is
similar to the T-profile and ABS edgings respectively and only has slight differences. The decorative EUROLIGHTDecor profile has
both protective and design functions for the exposed edges of the worktops. For gluing the decor profile we recommend the use of the
EGGER Universal Glue or an alternative contact adhesive.

For any type of hob stainless steel, glass ceramics the cut-outs should in all cases be carried out according to the instructions and
installation templates supplied by the manufacturer. In conjunction with EGGER EUROLIGHTworktops attention must be given that the
worktop is securely positioned, so that no damage can arise through sawing, milling or drilling. Narrow sections of worktop in particular
can break or crack through inappropriate handling during processing. The board cut-outs should also be secured so that they cannot fall
out in an uncontrolled way and cause injury to individuals or damage materials.
PROCESSING INSTRUCTIONSHOB INSTALLATIONS WITH EUROLIGHTWORKTOPS
Apart from the hob and the worktop the following materials, tools and additional resources are required for the hob installation:
Jigsaw with guide rail, for example Festool TS EBQ or alternative jigsaw, hand router or CNC milling machine
Cordless electric screwdriver
EGGER EUROLIGHTT-profile EGGER Universal Glue
Measuring tape

Centred mounting and sufficient spacing within the worktop should be observed for hobs in accordance with the specifications provided
by the manufacturers. As a safety precaution the hob should not be in contact with the cut edge as high temperatures are possible if
a malfunction should arise. The remaining distance to the front and back worktops edges must be at least mm. Due to ergonomic
reasons the distance between the stovetop and a tall cupboard should be at least mm. This spacing also applies as a recommendation
between sink and stovetop, as well for the minimum spacing in the area of corner joints.
Positioning
. MARK THE CUTOUT
Step by step guide
. THROUGHHOLE IN THE MARKED CORNERS
Mark the cut-out according to the dimensions provided by the hob manufacturer using a pencil or permanent marker.
Important: Take an allowance of + mm per side to make room for the EUROLIGHTT-profile.

The edges should be finished by means of sandpaper, filing or
manual top milling to eliminate cracks due to chipping.
In order to use piece of EUROLIGHTT-Profile around the hob
without cutting, the ridge profiles in the corner areas must be
removed.
. APPLY EGGER UNIVERSAL GLUE
The T-profile length depends on the drilling radius from inside
radius to inside radius.
Cut out the marked area using a jigsaw and guide rail.
Apply EGGER Universal Glue onto both sides of the ridge profiles within the T-profile.

. SLOTTING OF TPROFILE
. COATING OF THE CUTOUT AREA WITH SELFADHESIVE ALUMINIUM TAPE
Before installation of the stovetop the T-profile should be sealed with a self-adhesive aluminium tape. The aluminium tape not only
reflects the heat, but also serves as an additional seal as the T-profile is mm narrower than the worktop thickness. At the same time
the unsealed inside corner area is sufficiently protected.
. POSITION AND SCREW MOUNT THE FIXING BRACKETS
The right angled ridge profiles of the EUROLIGHTT-Profile are slotted under the mm surface layers of the worktops.
Position and screw mount the fixing brackets directly into the T-profile according to manufacturer specifications.

For finishing the exposed edges of EUROLIGHTWorktops, we have developed the EUROLIGHTDecor profile so that edge finishing
can be performed quickly and without any difficulties. The decor profile is based on the same principle as the T-profile with the main
difference being that the front side is colour matched to the worktops and covers the whole thickness of the worktops. The profiles are
matched to the EUROLIGHTWorktop standard thickness mm.
TECHNICAL LEAFLETEUROLIGHTDECOR PROFILE
The EUROLIGHTDecor profile is composed of ABS(acryl nitrile butadiene styrene). The rear side is coated as standard with a universal
primer. The front side is coated with a PP- (polypropylene) thin edge strip with the same decor. Please refer to the following drawing
