Salamun alaikum
We are pleased to update you on the progress of Imam Organisation UK in year 2016.
IMAM stands for Islamic Morals And Manners which is the core belief of our organisation.
We aim to engage British Muslim youths in social, educational and religious programs in a
friendly environment and in their first language; English.
We understand these are exciting times for technological advancements and how digital
revolution is influencing our lives. We aim to help youths understand how some aspects
of social media can have a negative impact on our moral behaviour and social
development but at the same time how digital technology can also be enjoyed ethically
and used for a postive purpose.
IMAM Organistion gained momentum from March 2016 to promote understanding,
respect, tolerence and cultural cohesion that is essential value for today's multi cultural
Britain. The organistion encourages and supports improving quailty of life, spiritually,
ethically, socially and academically by giving youth the teachings of the Prophet
Muhammad (pbuh) and his Holy Household (as). .
Our Team
Our volunteers under the guidance of Maulana Syed Najam Ul Hassan Naqvi took part in
various activities outlined in this report. In 2016 volunteers grew in numbers with a real
sense of purpose, dedication to help children and work with the community. Volunteers
have benefited in their personal development and increased their knowledge through
teaching and various activities.
IMAM Saturday Madrassah
IMAM Organisation’s core focus has been the education of children. IMAM Saturday
Madrassah is one of the projects of IMAM Organisation. The success has been
overwhelming with 125 children registered and a base of 25 volunteers. The age of the
children ranges from 5 to 20. They have been split up into groups in accordance to age,
ability and gender.
IMAM Saturday Madrassah follows the MUS curriculum in books 1 to 7, as well as
delivering its own educational programmes. After successful completion of the books,
parents are required to register their children online with the MUS examination board.
Several of our students have achieved outstanding exam results in the past. Well done!

Camps
English lectures
English lectures were arranged to address historical facts and contemporary issues facing
the youth of today such as family values, marriage, respect for all faiths and
communities. The lecturers included:
A weekend stay for the local youths providing a friendly learning environment through
lectures, discussions and workshops to advance their knowledge.
Outdoor Activities
Ramadan Itekaf
Ramadan Itekaf for children 8+ during which we held seminars, invited guest speakers,
craft workshops and concentrated on instilling Islamic practice of daily recitation of
Quran, Salat, Ziyarats and Duas.
Fund Raising Event
Charity Events
Practice of Hajj
Children held an event whereby they could sell food, toys and games to raise money for
the Madrassah. The children planned activities and sent out invitations to the local
community.
During the ZilHajj the children participated in a play and learn workshop in which children
performed the rituals and practices of Hajj organised by the volunteers.
In the past charity events have been held to fundraise for natural disaster appeals.
Children Majalis
After observing ten days of Muharram the children held majalis which consisted of
children reciting nohas, speeches and poems written by themselves. Children also recited
the tragedies of Karbala to commemorate the martyrdom of beloved Imam Hussain (a.s)
Fire Safety
We welcomed visits from the Pennine Fire and Rescue Services to educate children on
the dangers of fire on bonfire nights. We also took the children on a tour of the Burnley
Fire Station where they got to learn about the role of fire fighters and took part in a drill
that replicated a house full of smoke – not real smoke but certainly scared some kids!
Loose Clothing Seminar
IMAM Organisation UK and The Pennine Fire and Rescue Services organised a Seminar for women to make them aware of dangers of fire when wearing loose clothing. The attendees found the seminar very interesting and expressed that dangers relating to lose clothing in kitchen or in front of fire place should be highlighted in all communities. Shahbaz gave a demonstration on a dummy of how fire quickly spreads when your clothes catch fire.
IMAM Madrassah Seminar: Wilayah
Imam al-Rida (a.s) said, ‘Verily imamat is the reigns of religion, the ruling system of the
Muslims, the prosperity for the world and an honour for the believers’.
Art & Craft Activities
Parent’s Day
New Premises
With the advent of the new premises IMAM Organisation UK is looking forward to having a
more improved working environment and a focused timetable for the IMAM Saturday
Madrassah. Insha’Allah, with your support and prayers we intend to hold range of
programmes for the parents as well as the wider community.
IMAM Saturday Madrassah held parent’s days so that parents could learn more about the
activities covered. The children also attended with their parents so that together they
could discuss their progress with the teachers. Further to this, a report is written for each
child following the exams, attendance and performance monitoring in class.
