Designed to inspire the next
generation of global leaders,
Schwarzman Scholars is the mostsignificant program of its kind sincethe Rhodes Trust was foundedin 1902. With a $300 millioncommitment, it will also be thesingle largest philanthropic
effort ever undertaken in Chinaby largely foreign donors.
The 200 scholars chosen annuallyfor this highly selective program will
work towards a one-year MastersDegree at Tsinghua University inBeijingone of Chinas mostprestigious universities. As individuals
who want to have a positive impact
on the world, Schwarzman Scholars
will be selected based on theiracademic credentials, extracurricularinterests and leadership potential.
During their stay, scholars will begranted access to a privileged rangeof cultural and academic experiences,from travel to all corners of China to
mentorships with leaders of industry,to exchanges with global leaders andexperts in their chosen disciplines.They will also spend their yearimmersed in the local culture andsocial lifebefore classes begin,a summer orientation will provideopportunities to learn Chinese,explore Beijing and meet fellowstudents and faculty.

Designed by Robert A.M. Stern,
Dean of the Yale School ofArchitecture, the 258,000 square-foot campus will house one of themost advanced higher-educationfacilities in the world. The centrallylocated residential and academicbuilding is designed to encouragea constant interchange of ideas andculture among students, facultyand visiting leaders. Breaking ground
in 2013, it will welcome the firstclass of Scholars in June 2016.
Established in 1911, TsinghuaUniversity is at the forefront ofmajor endeavors in China, fromsocial and economic, to political andscientific. It is dedicated to academic

in 2016, Schwarzman Scholars wil lset a new standard for internationalstudy, giving talented students a betterunderstanding of the new geopoliticallandscape and preparing them tomake a positive impact. The program
will inspire constructive engagement

Each student will spend the yearfocusing on one of four academicdisciplines: public policy, economics
and business, international relationsand, in the future, engineering.The curriculum was developed incollaboration with academic leadersfrom Harvard, Yale, Princeton,Stanford, Oxford, Duke and otherprestigious universities aroundthe world.
